The pay for Flex pilots probably won't go down since we all know that flying a "luxury" business jet from from PBI to TEB takes more skill and is more demanding then flying a "value" business jet from PBI to TEB.

Just look at the Flight Options Phenoms and Net Jet Phenoms. The Netjets platinum edition phenom pilot deserves to be paid 40k a year more then the Flight Options origional version phenom pilot should be since after all the platinum edition has a more impressive sounding name.

Just ask Flight options management they will explain it to you.

When does your current contract expire?

When does your current contract expire?

April 2014 but can be extended by the company until April 2015.

If after this news they extend it without addressing some major issues like 401k things will probably turn sour very quickly in our relationship.

Overnight pilot expectations for compensation have dramatically increased. I don't think Flexjet current pay rates will be enough to satisfy the Flops pilots, we will want a lot more to make up for what we have lost and will be prepared to negotiate for it with a lot more vigor.

Spot on Jet.

And we'll know the answer regarding the contact extension by the end of this month. It could be a very interesting peak travel season to say the least.

Just. Ain't. Gonna. Happen.

Its my view, as of the "Value" brand announcement, while putting in a lot of years here at FO, I'm feeling very sour as soon as this was announced, most pilots I have talked to agree. Frankly I'm tired of Ricci buying company's while we have no 401K match, and he has linked the 401k match to bringing back the furloughed guys.

As a flex pilot I hope you guys get everything you ask for/deserve.

If they use Flexjet as an excuse to extend, it is illegitimate. Separate companies means your management can begin negotiations now. Maybe your MEC should ask for an early start to negotiations. At the very least, you should put early negotiations in your next contract.

They don't need an excuse. With a 3% across the board bump in the pay scales FlOps can unilaterally extend the contract one more year. That might not be the wisest of decisions at this point in time.
