Kirby said in a crew news the company can allow east and west to fly each other's metal on the day of the POR. I think the differences slides may be a very telling.

BTW, aren't you supposed to wait until the last day to do distance learning?

I'll be really busy in Aug (w/ a possibility of an upcoming sickation), so I gotta be on my best behavior...

I'm sorry for not being clear and correct me if I'm wrong, but POR begins 100% codesharing for AA and US Airways. This is the short-term method for linking the network.

Correct?

Oh, right. You are correct, of course. However, codesharing between AA and US doesn't magically create seats. Both airlines are flying 80%+ load factors already, and with equal pay there's little incentive to shift all the flying to one carrier or the other. Plus the block hour protections. I don't see that affecting the need for hiring on either side.

10 new hire classes ( 2 per month) of 15 to 20 each through the end of the year which is less than originally planned. Dunno why the scale back but we are hiring 30 - 40 Flight Attendants each month and I was told HR is swamped.

I heard about 250-300 for the year and so far have hired about 150 so I would say they are on pace. Although lately it seems they aren't having any classes bigger than 10.

There we go with overly optimistic forecast 15-20 has now shown to in reality 10, and now classes are being Canceled. Damn

If we end up hiring 200 this year that is still quite a bit. One must consider that all these new hires are being placed on the east and the east only has about 2800 active positions. We only had about 50 to 75 or so active pilots retire this year (or will retire in 2013). During the next 12 months there are only 120 active pilots that will reach age 65.
