Crucian, come join the debate at UALpilots.org

Sounds like you have the insight to add some perspective to what should rightfully be a debate for the L-CAL and L-UAL pilots viewpoints.

That's what I thought.

For the love of God man...please read a few of the awards! The awards always reference the MAD, not what happened later on. If you want to say the CAL furloughees were right-sized for the merger, no problem. If you want to say all furloughees should be in their own category I would disagree, but at least there is some thought behind it. To try justify that UAL active pilots with no furlough time are behind CAL furloughees and then deny you have any furloughees is just plain irrational. At MAD in 2010, you had furloughees. It is a simple fact and one that even your Merger committee has agreed to. Have you been so brainwashed by your side that you can't sort out rhetoric from fact? -Mil

The initial writer has a valid point. I had friends at Frontier and United during the 86 merger attempt. Most of my friends at both airlines were disgusted with the UAL MECS use of merger policy in order to prevent the more senior Frontier pilots off of the UAL seniority list. One united captain went so far as to only pay protest dues to ALPA after that. United management was willing to bend on the issue of a fence for equal pay and benefits for the Frontier pilots. The United MEC refused to negotiate. This destroyed the merger attempt. If there are any of the old Frontier pilots at CAL they can probably tell you the whole story.

Be sure to mention UAL pilots as cornered rats in your interview. It will make things go much smoother, I promise!

I guess I meant that "tongue in cheek". Sorry if I offended you. One quick question though as it appears you might fly for United... If I was hired by Continental before the SIL, would I be senior to the furloughed UAL guys? I'd hate to get hired and then have to have furloughed guys come in on top of me for forever.

Nobody knows the answer to your question but it does say volumes about the type of person you are......forever.

It has been discussed at nauseam, and is no different than any other award out there. Pilots hired AFTER the MAD (2010) will be below everybody else. Same thing will apply at USaIr/AWA/American and applied at NW/Delta. I'm a bit surprised you didn't know that answer already.
