The last 3 times I've renewed my CFI was with Gleim online.It has been fine. Just wanted some input from some others using JEPP or AOPA or others providers for renewals. Thanks

I had always used Jepp but switched to Gleim this year. I liked the Gleim course better.

I too prefer Gleim. The best part about it is that you can finish it in one day if you really work for it. Basically just fly though the outlines and practice questions. Print or open the outline in a different window and take the exam.

I open the outline in a seperate window and use the 'Find' thingy to seach for keywords in the exam question. I finished my Gleim Renewal in about 6-7 hoursish. I also opted for their $25 ACR? option. Basically you just put all the required things in the mail and they send you a temporary certificate until the real one shows up.

American Flyers is one cost per life but I would rather pay 100 bucks for ease of completion.

I don't know the details but you can use the IACRA system to update your CFI for a lower cost. research it

...also if you did happen to have 10 students pass their checkride (80% pass rate) the FAA will renew ur CFI with no school/course required. I believe it has to be within 12 months.

I used American Flyers. No $50 and no trip to the FSDO. I spoke with a Ms. Kennedy at the Charlotte FSDO and did everything via IACRA and emailing scanned documents. Very easy process.

Try that in San Antonio sometime. They'll laugh you out the door.

The rules on that got tightened way up. If you work for an Air Carrier (121, 125, 135) sometimes the POI will renew it for ya....but just walking into a FSDO? Nope.

King Schools now has an online CFI renewal. Quick and painless. Better than Gleim. Used their certificate processing which works via IACRA. Got my temp certificate emailed to me within a day of completion. For those who dislike John and/or Martha, you only have to watch a short video with them in it. The course is similar to Gleim, 15-30 T/F's, read a lesson and take a short test, repeat for 8 or 10 lessons. Much easier than all the others and I'd tried them all.

Why wouldn't they?

In Denver, when you've completed the firc you bring them the paperwork and you leave with your temporary.

Maybe I misunderstood the issue. If you walk into the FSDO with the FIRC completion document that's no problem. But just walking in with an 8710 and asking for a renewal is a non-starter unless it is your POI.

I apologize if I read the situation incorrectly.

I used Gleim and Jepp in the past. This year I went to an Aviation Seminars weekend class. All are painful...
