Where is SWA and using IPADs for the cockpit. It would be a good deal if all the manuals were electronic. Heard rumor that it was approved and each pilot will get $500 to purchase an ipad but when is this going to happen. After all the 717 birds go to DELTA, or the 717 pilots come over to SWA?

Yeah, I hope, and it looks like we have, that we learned the multi-million$ lesson from the headsets debacle-
Give us a stipend for the amount of the minimum ipad we need for the job and let us buy the suped up iPad or not, use our own or not-
Should've handled the headsets the same way and is a good common sense way to do this-
Good job- it's going to take a while to go full up, but the stipend was a great decision

Is this ipad thing true for SWA?

Yes it is.

They've selected a couple hundred pilots for a trial starting in April. Plan is to turn it on fully in Jan. I think it's going to make things much better. I'm tired of digging into a flight bag that is stuffed to the gills with everything you could imagine. Bring it on.

I j/s on American recently and they had them. Seriously cool. Of course you have to charge your iPad! If both pilots forget, that's going to be embarrassing. And they said theirs wasn't set up to show two plates at once. I think we have to have that capability. Arrival plate and approach plate coming in, 10-9 and ramp diagram taxing.
