We have reviewed your background and experience and although your qualifications are impressive, we have decided to move forward with candidates that more closely match the position's requirements.

Again, thank you for your interest in the position. We invite you to explore other career opportunities for which you feel you are qualified at our career site at http://usairways.greatjob.net.

I little sad but what can you do

What do they think the other career opportunities are that "you feel you are qualified for with USAir?" Lav dumper? Why do they put that at the bottom of the letter? I would guess you wanted to be a pilot for them, nothing else, right? Sheesh....

Bye Bye---General Lee

as soon as i read this thread , i thought instantly of the 15 to 20 US guys , whose jumpseat i was able to sit on told me, "you don't want to work here" ...i am sure you can find a satisying job elsewhere in the industry as a pilot.

Just like when a woman rejects a guy, she just did him a favor. A company that rejects you is probably doing you a favor as well. Hope you have better luck.

I was a FO on the jungle jet for a 121 carrier and had over 1000 SIC time on it. I don't know what they are looking for. I have a 4 year degree, 121 experience, jet time.

General Lee exactly what other position would i want to apply for. I guess things happen for a reason and perhaps it is better for me. I try to stay positive

That is what I am saying. I thought their letter was worded poorly, since you OBVIOUSLY didn't want another type of position. That was my point.

Hang in there guys... I just got the same letter, so did another buddy of mine at my regional. Thought we both were competitive (6K+ TT, 3500-4000 TPIC, multiple types, LCA experience, etc.). Don't know what they're looking for...

Keep your head up!

Don't feel bad guys, I applied a year ago and got the thanks but no thanks letter as well. Then in May I got an e-mail telling me to update my stuff and got an interview offer a month later. So you might get an invitation anyway.

Also you can probably just re-apply again, all the apps are selected and rejected by a computer.

Got one too. You got to be F****** kidding me. I worked at PSA and this is the thanks I get for flying around THEIR passengers safely for 7 plus years. just unbelievable. 7000tt 2200 121 pic at PSA

Joining the club.... Oh well...

Genny Lee is spot on.... I absolutely caught the end of the letter. Like what other job might they want me to apply for?

Let's see.....materials specialist (could that be code for lav dumper)? Flight attendant? (I'd have to get my tips frosted for that...)

Maybe they're only giving invites to children or relatives of usapa supporters. I'm being facetious, but it wouldnt shock me, sans merger, the strife and usapa spport must be kept alive. With some of the stats I've seen here, plus on our west board, that letter makes no sense.

I don't know if the comment is a carryover from time gone by, but in the past you could get hired as an GS/Sim instructor and move over to a pilot position at some point. It's not the straightest path, but I think it puts you in a good position to be a check airman eventually.

That is not the case currently. An instructor on the ground school side of the house is a completely different union, different setup and is not a # on the pilot seniority list. You have to apply for a pilot position just like everyone else. The other thing to consider is that as a G.I. you have no way to maintain currency. Just food for thought.

heard a rumor of some of the criteria they set for first round of resume scanning....Seems it's done by ex ALPA honcho, and some VP. Anyways, some of the criteria they put in there was just stupid, and neither says they were the ones that set it at whatever thresh hold. Seems one of them was to have gone through an initial in the past 12 months. errrrrrrr that would only be NEW capts or NEW f/o's not sure why they would set that criteria......anyways...just word around the school yard...

Got the rejection also. Had 3 internal letters of recommendation, including one from a check airman. Current times are 6k total, 2k 121 PIC, and have 2 types.

Oh, and to the ****************************** bag that thinks there's special treatment for USAPA family- my father is a 757/767 driver and it didn't help.

Am I reading the APC payscales for USAIR correctly???

Being denied from them may be a good thing as it will eventually persuade you to attempt another legacy once hiring begins.

I've know several long time USAIR guys, their history of furloughs, morale, and company culture isn't the best in the biz over the past 20+ years... I've also ridden on them as a paying passenger many many times... Customer service is not their strong point.

I wouldn't feel overly bad about not going there IMO.

The pay scale is probably about to change via the MOU out of Dallas, but there is no telling what scope erosion will be hiding in the fine print.

At any rate, getting a reject letter is a bummer even if the girl isn't a 10. Thankfully everyone and there brother will have to be hiring in 2013.

This information is simply incorrect. I was hired, along with 2 others I know, who did not meet this requirement

Also untrue. Show me documentation by pilot recruitment teams of Delta, United, American, FedEx, UPS, Southwest, etc. that they will be hiring in 2013?

I'll save you the trouble, you can't. It's pure speculation right now.

Sorry you didn't make the cut, with your quals it makes no sense to me why you didn't. As far as the usapa crack goes, if you'd walked in west shoes, you'd understand where that mostly facetious comment came from.

Yes and they had found this criteria in the search process, and turned it back off, I.E. at some point alot of apps got rejected, etc....who knows....... Just shows what the competency of this place has gone to from what it was....at one time...

Take it as a sign from a higher power to live a happier life and not be sucked into the hell of USAirways that is controlled by angry old men in CLT that only live in the past....

You are right, the prospect of being hired somewhere else is completely nil and anyone who gets rejected from USAir now should slit their wrists immediately rather than wait until the end of 2013 when they will see that you were right. There is no hope of being hired anywhere else. All together now, lets poor some more pessimism on their bad news. :D

Or maybe just maybe after five years of no retirements, something different will happen in the HR departments. :)

You said everyone and their brother will be hiring this next year. Never mentioned slitting wrist, that was a childish comment. I'm simply saying your post is pure speculative. None of those airlines have announced hiring and I'm gonna venture to say most wont(speculative) ;)
