If you're interested. Pay is pathetic, but if they merge with AA it could be good.
 
I just notice that the ID reference for the job is different that the one in this past January!! Do we have to reapplied or update our resume on the existing account?? Anyone?

I remember looking at the pre 9/11 pay scales for pilots and thought the major airlines were a golden road to life.

Why is it that I make the same money flying around in a private jet as a 12 year A330 CA at US Airways? There is something wrong with this. And even with Delta's new contract, I make about 10% less for the same years of service (but I get free health care, which may even out the pay).

Why is it that FO pay at the US Airways is the same as PIC pay at some regionals? The majors are supposed to be a step up.

I would love to fly for a major and not clean rich kid's snot from their fine leather chair but I can't afford it. I would be financially ruined. I guess I might have to continue being someones "hired help".

I miss my cockpit door :(
 
Why does a regional pilot have to take a 60% pay cut to go to airways?
Actually the real question is: Why is life so bad at regionals that people will take a 60% pay cut and go to the worst airline in the USA?
Not to mention the drop in seniority, vacation, etc.....

Because a regional can be here today and gone the next. Look at comair. It is contract work. Any contractor can be replace by another. It is not just an airline thing.

Or just like Eastern, PanAm ect. On a different scale of course!
 
Well I agree with the everyone that the current US Airways book has some low rates. But we all know Airways has been working under a bankruptcy contract for years now. The proposed pay increase brings them up near Delta. Plus the if the merger with American happens (which looks pretty certain now) then you can expect more.

People complaining about the current book can't see the forest for the trees. The rates will increase and get better much like everything else.

Let's all have this conversation in 5 years and see what happens.

American is going to extract massive pay gains while in bankruptcy? Amazing!
 
People don't understand this industry yet and it's cycles. No one wanted to work for swa and FedEx but now look. Now is the time to get on at usair because they have been rock bottom and it s their turn to rise with American. The combined airline will Retire 1000 pilots a year for about 5 years in the future
