With so many 737 Max 9 and 737-900ER aircraft on order and optioned, is is fair to assume that Boeing is squeezing the narrowbody Airbus aircraft out of UAL's fleet in the future? Obviously the ex-CAL CEO probably has a preference for Boeing aircraft like his predecessors. Anyone know about the lease expirations for the Airbus narrowbodies? Thoughts? I know the A350 was also ordered by UAL pre-merger so the sidestick won't be leaving... Obviously just speculating at this point - I am sure Airbus will be aggressive to keep UAL as a narrowbody customer with an offer for cheap NEOs...

United adds 160 Boeing 737 options to order

By: Edward Russell Washington DC

United Airlines disclosed that it has 160 options for Boeing 737 Max 9 and 737-900ER aircraft on top of its order for 150 of the aircraft, in a regulatory filing last night.

The options are split between 100 for the 737 Max 9 and 60 for the 737-900ER. The aircraft would have CFM Leap-1B and CFM56-7 engines, respectively.

Chicago-based United announced a firm order for 100 737 Max 9s and 50 737-900ERs with deliveries from 2013 to 2022 on 12 July.

The airline says that it will use the 737s to replace older aircraft.
United now has firm orders and options for 319 737s, according to Flightglobal's Ascend database.

Separately, United disclosed that it had received compensation from Boeing for the delivery delays of its 110 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft, in the filing

Everyone knows they can't make money with the 737 in Denver....Thats why they parked them all right?

With all due respect, these aren't the same airplanes UAL was flying prior to parking them. I don't like 737's and I got off the thing as soon as I could at CAL. That being said, these max 9's are going to be pretty nice for passengers. Jury is out on the pilots but my guess is it will be a little cramped noisy cockpit just like the original 100 series.

The airbus aircraft will be here for close to a decade. The wide bodies will come and I predict an order for more airbus wide bodies this Fall(thanks autocorrect).

The Airbus' are gone. It's just a matter of time.

The UAL 757s are gone as well. Leaving as leases expire.

FWIW, the 737 cockpit is the worst work environment in the industry.

And you've flown an 145?

I dunno, the Delta NGs I've jumpseated on seem pretty nice compared to the CRJ. Autothrottles, dual FMS, big PFDs and MFDs. Only thing scary is the overhead panel!

Yeah but UCAL doesnt have the PFDS and MFDS. 6 hours in this airplane sucks. Airbus beats it anyday for comfort. Thanks Jeff, another colossal F UP. SHouldve split the order.

Only someone ignorant would say that.....United stalled a 737 on final into Midway....maybe they "didn't know it" either....and I've done the Boeing and Airbus thing...you definitely know when you are stalling an Airbus....
