Looks like this airline is about to start operating out of Carlsbad. Some former Skybus execs that used to be pilots for DAL and US Airways will be managing the company.

Carlsbad has one short little runway. Carlsbad? Really?

This probably belongs somewhere else besides the "majors" forum.

What's that old saying... "small fortune after starting with a large one..."

I was thinking about dropping by the office. Drive 10 minutes to work, or keep commuting 14 hours. I'm sure the pay isn't nearly as good, though.....

The top guy has been around the Cal airline scene for many years...even the 70's early 80's when I was there..

I'm guessing that's we're you flew the Convair. I got my initial ratings at Flight Trails while working there as a line boy.

The execs are pilots? Judging by the all the pilot/CEOs on FI, what could go wrong?

Charles Lindbergh, Juan Trippe, C.E Woolman and Gordon Bethune ....... :D I'm sure that I've missed a few. No they aren't on FI, but I'm sure you see the point. I'm having trouble coming up with non pilot amazing airline Execs. Except for Herb.

Frank Borman. Gemini 7 I think.

Interesting enough Mark Dunkerley @ HA is an avid aerobatic pilot who has had some success in aerobatic competition.

I lived in Cal throughout the late '70's, and mid eighties...airlines came and went like flies....location location location...that might be the first straw on the camel's back...

The founder/CEO Ted Vallas, is 92 years old. Not too many people in the airline biz can call Herb Kelleher a whippersnapper! Hope they have a good succession plan!

... "most recently the Executive Director/COO of the National Aviation Hall of Fame in Dayton, OH"...

What...this is one room full of a bunch of plaques. Was he in charge of dusting or something?

Cool until he sucks in a bunch of pilots who leave their current jobs for the possibility of something better, and then dumps them on the street a year later because his hobby didn't work out.

Caveat emptor. If that turns out to be the case it will be their fault, not his.

Absolutely true. It's amazing the lack of accountability of people today. So many want to blame everyone and everything else for their problems.
