that last post is spot on. How long before some regional makes an announcement that they are getting those 76 seaters from Delta and in the same announcement are opening a JFK and/or LGA base for them? One of the items in the Pinnacle bankruptcy is to open a "new york" base-I am assuming that is not for new planes, but for the 900's that are now based in MEM. Why have a pilot base in a city that you do not have many or any flights out of? Or for that matter, why have a headquarters and training in a city where there are hardly any flights to get your people in and out of? There are many reasons for this bankruptcy-get rid of the United flying-US Airways flying (all for Delta I would think)-lose the downtown MEM headquarters (expensive lease and inconvenient location for operational reasons)-cut pilot pay and work rules-and the most important for Delta is the ability to lose 140+ crj 200 leases.
