I wonder if they will screw over all their employees in this merger as bad as they did with america west.

I doubt it. Didn't Scott Kirby, the USair President, just state they learned that they need labor cooperation in big mergers like this? They learned that with DL. So, I would think there could be some raises involved, fences, arbitration, and no more USAPA.

Godspeed!

If Kirby wanted to earn the respect of his peers in airline management he would punish the east for their behavior in a most humiliating way. The kid gloves should be retired and Bill Franke hired to run labor relations.

At least now I can go around to all the west pilots I told, "a west pilot doesn't have a snowballs chance in h@!! of getting elected," and tell them, "I told you so!"

Not exactly. Vasin, Iranpour & O'Neill were all three voted in to the offices of the USAPA Appeals Board (the judiciary branch of USAPA). We will have to see what President Hummell will do with regard to committee construction.

Well that would end the USAPA nightmare. Although what do you want to bet some of their leadership will be making statements to the tune of "we will control the outcome!"
News flash guys, the USAPIANS will not be the majority.

you really have got to bid that 10 hour redeye hnl-jfk when your service starts this summer - you'll have plenty of time to postulate about what goes on here day in and day out in the USAPIAN world that you think you know so much about.
You enjoy your seniority over there - and let us enjoy ours - the only difference is no one is trying to steal yours - at least not yet and then we'll see your response

Metro,

AmWest/USAir merging was a difficult situation to say the least, I totally understand being outraged at someone with a much later DOH being made equal to someone who was flying for USAir/Piedmont when that person was hired at AmWest years after the East pilot had been hired. But I also understand it is equally outrageous that a furloughed USAir pilot would think he should be senior to a Captain at AmWest, especially given the fact that it was AmWest essentially saving USAir (indisputable no matter what anyone wants to believe). No way in hell did a "happy" compromise exist. It simply wasn't possible. The only realistic option was going to be to accept the reality of the situation and agree to binding arbitration and than move on with everyone's career.
We all know what happened.

I've got friends with east and west, I know a lot more about the situation than you apparently think I do. This is a forum for flight crews from all airlines to express their opinion based on an industry wide perspective. Your trying to minimize my post as ignorant because I don't fly for USAir would indicate to me a symptom of what got you guys in the mess your in now. It's not all about just you and what you think.

Finally, as a matter of fact I just checked out in the Airbus and most definitely will be bidding the JFK flight. Leave here in the middle of the afternoon and arrive in NY the following AM only needing a nap before going out in NYC (we have comfortable sleeping qtrs on the Airbus), then spending the night and flying home the following AM. Four of those a month and I'll get about 90 hours, those trips will be as good as our SYD trips. I sound like the General don't I?

Too funny, your mistaken of course. But doesn't that pretty much sum up everything about USAPA, perceptions based on false assumptions?
