You all need to meet the man before making up your judgment. I have not always agreed with everything that TW has done, but even in disagreements, he has always been professional. He is honest and if you call him, he will call you back and give you honest answers. I have also flown the line with him and he is no prima donna. His experience at ALPA National will help all of us. I really don't care if he's current on any of our a/c types. There's so much to clean up, I want his 100% focus on getting things done for our benefit.

I have worked with TW for many years in the past. I can't think of another individual that I would want leading this pilot group. If you hate ALPA, then you will hate anybody that is apart of ALPA.

Waaaaaa

I hate wearing a tie

waaaaaaaa

You wear a tie every day you go to work. I say kudos if he wants to impliment that rule. I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not, but mandating a professional attire in a professional business is not asking for too much.

TW got us through the bankruptcy not only with our snapbacks but also a good chunk-o-change for our 401k. Sure, I was furloughed, but not much he could do about that. Not much else I need to say I guess.

I do think the people have a point at which some of our ALPA leadership spend and are expensed from our coffers. I only wish that ALPA national guys did not get the 5 star hotels, limos, and the salaries that they get. Maybe leading by example instead of the way the rest of the politicians in Washington live would be a start. That being said, if you ever meet TW, I think you would be happy with him leading this venture we have hear. He is not a Mesaba guy, he is a pilots guy. remember that. he will do what is best for us all and be good at it. Remember that as well.

I have no problem with our union guys staying at nice hotels and making a decent salary. The whole idea is to get the best of the best to lead the union, not just anyone willing to take a 75hr buy-out and stay at the La Quinta. Personally I'd be embarrassed if the leader of our 3000 pilots was staying at Sleep Inn and having to pick up open-time to make ends meet. He has more important things to do.

If they are a full time union guy, I am not saying they cannot expense a cab, meals they eat while on union business, or stay in nice hotels. I am just saying Limos, 5 star hotels and restaurants are a little over the top (on top of pay that is higher than that of the highest of paid pilots). I also think that they need to be able to expense suits and such if they are to be hob nobbing with lobbyists and politicians. I just think the example of a union official expensing meals when they are spending all day in an office that is 20 minutes from their house is a waste of money (my money).

I have been apart of the union in the past. I served upwards of 7-8 years doing odds and ends. I have been to the BOD several times and I can say for a fact. No one gets a limo. Once in a blue moon will I see a 5 star hotel, but a rate has been negotiated down to something reasonable.

I guess I am miss informed. I was told a few years back that the executive ALPA types have free transportation and extravagant food and hotels when they travel

XJers...you have to understand the position the original 9E guys were coming from...the last two MEC's were...well I cant use those words on a forum...Oscar the Grouch could do a better job...I hear nothing but good things about TW and it can literally only be a step in the right direction compared to the past...
