How long has this been in the works?

ST. GEORGE, Utah, Aug. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SkyWest Airlines, a subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc. (NASDAQ:SKYW - News) and US Airways (NYSE:LCC - News) announced today that the two airlines have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for 14 aircraft to operate as US Airways Express. The agreement, which is subject to approval by the respective Board of Directors for both SkyWest Airlines and US Airways, further diversifies the SkyWest Airlines flying portfolio and provides US Airways customers with SkyWest Airlines' quality and reliability.
"We are pleased to add US Airways to SkyWest Airlines' strong partner portfolio," said Russell "Chip" Childs, SkyWest Airlines' President and COO. "SkyWest's people have done incredible work to provide a reliable, efficient product, and we look forward to offering that quality to US Airways customers."
Once finalized, the three-year agreement provides flying as US Airways Express for 14 50-passenger Bombardier CRJ200 regional jet aircraft with options to up gauge to larger CRJ700 aircraft, replacing the CRJ200 and Dash8 Express service currently provided to US Airways in the Phoenix hub by Mesa Airlines. SkyWest Airlines service as US Airways Express is anticipated to begin early to mid-2012 and it is anticipated that the aircraft will be allocated from SkyWest's existing fleet. SkyWest will be compensated in similar fashion to its existing capacity purchase agreements with other major codeshare partners. Details of the agreement are being finalized and are subject to approval by both entities' Board of Directors.

wow times are getting tough, an agreement for 14 200's coming from airplanes they already have. Wonder where they are coming from? Only a 3 year deal as well. Zero Growth

Impending order of 20 Q-400s to be announced at a later date

It's a knife under the rib cage of Mesa. How long was their contract with Airways?

As we have Zero spare 200's, where will we get the lift? More to follow.

How do you know this?

From what i've heard they are coming from the aitran side and delta side. Since we did a 1 for 1 to 700s.

Why else would SAPA be wasting their time on ironing out a payscale for the Q-4?

Doesn't mean that they won the contract, they also didn't come to an agreement and there aren't anymore meetings scheduled.

It's a 3 year deal. Mesa's CRJ 900 contract expires in 2015. Coincidence? I think not.

If I remember correctly, US Airways is at its max for CRJ 900s. I think they cannot bring anymore online unless others come off. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Usair WILL buy Mesa, mark my words. It is the only way to combine east west by bringing another airline.......

They had the chance in bankruptcy. East and west will be fully integrated when the last Easty retires.

Writing is on the wall for SKYW. operating old 200s at a loss eventually will catch up with you.

What are you saying? They are not exactly like the Wagon Queen Family Truckster?
