SWA schedules/QOL vs AAI

Probably the biggest downside to our schedules is that there are relatively few commutable trips. Our whole AM/PM trip arrangement, while easier on the body, usually means a commuter will be overnighting either on the front or back end of most trips. Although the additional seven domiciles may reduce the need to commute for many ATN dudes (after the fence comes down, of course )

I just did a 3 day that paid 28.1 trips (credits) straight time.... really.

As far as pay goes I will never be able to touch your pay. As far as schedule goes I am a 05 hire 717 Fo I get avg 17 days of the las three months I have had one whole week off during the month. Most times I have four day trips with a three day here and there. If I want I am able to get all weekends off and all holidays off. I am a commuter so I give up high time trips for commutable trips. Most months I work tues-fri. My trips start after 11:30 and end by 20:30. The only times I have to get a hotel in atl is if I have training.
I avg 80 hr a month.
If you don't like what you get for the month it is pretty easy to move things around with sap 1 and 2 and open time.
The one thing we have going for us is the commutable lines. Hands down your lines will alway pay more than ours. You also do better because you have more west coast flying than we do. When our 737 pilots get to the west coast they are done they can't get back to MKE, bwi or atl without timing out. You guys could fly bwi-lax and continue to any place out west getting you 7+hrs for the day. This is the main reason we look over staffed to you guys.
I know that when things are all said and done I am going to make lots more money at swa than at aai. This will help, but I have never bid my lines around $$$ my number 1 priority has always been time off. The extra money will never make up for the lost time spent with my family.

I just did a 3 day that paid 28.1 trips (credits) straight time.... really.

I just did a straight pay 4day that paid 34tfp - or $6424.

I have been at Airtran over 4 years....i have 17 days off....all weekends and the 4th off, all commutable, with 77 hrs credit due to the commute. Havent worked a holiday in 1 1/2 yrs. Not too shabby. I look forward to the SWA contract but have NEVER needed a hotel yet due to commuting. AT runs a very late bank out of ATL that allows me to get home. SWA is much better but lil airtran ain't as bad as some think.

As a commuter, start thinking more along the lines of 105 to 110 trips/mo with another day off. Commutable trips are rare, though.

The min for a 3 day is 19.5 and 26 for a 4 day.

The average? I'd say most 3 days pay in the 21-23 range and 4 days in the 28-30, with some above and some below. This time of year, they are usually far above the mins. In Jan and Feb, you'll see more min trips in the bidlines, ELITT etc.

I do mostly 4 days, by choice, to maximize pay per commute. The last few months, all but a few paid 30+, including a few with overfly that went over 35.

Amen. That's why I bid max days off and the most credit I can get with those minimum days at work to break guarantee. Usually that's 18 days off and about 78-80 hours of block for 82-85 hours of credit (would be approximately 97-105 TFP on the conversion).

You can't replace time at home. I'll do my part and fly what I'm supposed to fly, work hard, have a good time, and help out when need be, but you'll never catch me picking up open time that reduces my days at home. Not until the kids are grown and gone, at any rate. I intend to enjoy my children, be there for their games, the holidays, and HELP them grow up, not just WATCH. If that means I stay a senior F/O for an additional 5-7 years until my CA seniority holds the same QoL I have now before I upgrade? That's fine.

Once I get to the point I can pay my bills and put money into savings that I need? Money doesn't matter past that. It's all about what days I can hold off to be at home with my family. I work to live,,, I don't live to work.

I don't remember my line bc I elitt a lot and picked up-
Not one premium trip has worked so far- and I have 88 block and 121tfp

I'd guess your average line would have around 65-80 block, depending-
Summer is a different beast though

Around 80-ish.

In May, I got 132 credit with 92 hours of block. One day was pulled for training, and the rest was straight time. I worked my butt off, but still had 14 days off.

Guys in domicile, that are gaming the system, are cleaning up right now. More TFP and less block/days.
