Hey guys! it has been about 3 years since i have posted so forgive me if i posted this in the wrong spot. Headed to HTO this next weekend. i'm looking for suggestions on good/cheap places to eat. I'm on a budget of $175/ month so didn't know if you guys knew of some good places.

Thanks!

PHTO or KHTO? $175-a-month isn't gonna' work in either place.
(or $175-a-day)

it's KHTO and the 175 is just for me personally, i'm only staying there Friday-Sunday.

$175 per month meal "allowance"?

And you'll be in the Hamptons for a weekend?

That sucks.

It is a personal allowance. I get paid a decent per diem, but trying to save some money. It just so happens that i'm ending up in one of the more expensive places to stay. It will be a good test of our budget and i'm sure we can find some good places to eat and not too expensive.

Ya mean you cant live well on $5.50 a DAY in many places?

OP needs get his game up and get a better job in life that allows better than $175/month to eat, or relocate to Somalia instead.

Inquiring about living in the Hamptons on $6 a day? testing your little personal budget?....ah the stupidity on the forum grows...

I'm sure you will find some great places to eat...:0 then again dumpsters in the Hamptons are likely pretty flush with good rich folk scraps.

Keep us posted.

hey thanks for calling me stupid and not contributing a thing to the conversation. The reason i started this was to get a heads up on good spots to eat. Don't worry about what i can and can't live off of, you either know a spot or you don't know a spot.

Just pull a rich broad and let her pick up the tab. Personal recommendation. Your just hitting the prime season boss.

Try bringing a fishing pole & lobster pot. Good luck, you are going to need it.

If you are making a "decent per diem" but are trying to save it to supplement your salary then you're either not being paid a decent salary or you are living beyond your means. Used to fly with a guy like this, McDonald's every meal, he counted per diem as part of his salary. What a lousy life while I ate steak and drank beer.

And just so you don't get all "TIMMMMAY" on me, I have something productive to say too. A Google maps search around KHTO for "cheap food" turned up "Bay's Burger" and "Golden Pear". Problem is they're probably a far walk from the closest Super 8 and you won't be able to rent a car on your budget.

Not really gonna find "cheap" eats around the HTO area. Deli sandwiches at some places are well over $10. You may want to bring your own food if your plan is to stick to your budget.

Come on guys... haven't you ever flown for the commuters or boxes in a banged up piston twin?

$175 is highfalutin....

Let's see:

4 packs of Top Ramen for $1 x 30 days = $30 for the whole month.

Take 2 per meal, and you have 2 meals a day for $1.

Say you treat yourself to a Subway sandwich every couple of days and spend $7 per visit. $7 x 15 = $105 and that should include your soda.

So you're up to $135.

To offset Top Ramen, you can get some Spaghettios... $2 each x the other 15 days that you aren't eating Subway = $30 for a grand total of $165.

You can pocket $5 out of the whole deal and all your per diem... or you can increase your savings if you substitute Subway for 99 cent menu at Wendy's, JITB, etc.... :)

Guys, come on. i'm only staying there for the weekend. I don't plan to stay there a month. It is a weekend trip and i am looking for restaurant recommendations. It is not that hard. Thanks for the info say again and freight dog.

Side note, i now remember why it has been 3 years since i've posted here or even read posts. If people act this rude just from a guy looking for a place to eat, i'd hate to see what it is like on something more important.

Gulfstream 200, i like the math, but you missed the part where i said i was only staying a weekend.

Guido411, My company takes care of me, so no super 8's or anything like that. Thanks for the google seach info but i figured with the wealth of experience on the forum, someone would have a heads up, instead of their nose up.
