....your keyboard must be like our FMS touchpads, you double punched a few extra zeros in there by mistake...

For what flying??? Unless they plan on needing this many for attrition and new FAR's.

I agree it's crazy, but it's also coming from an excellent source.

Who would that be? The drunk hobo who likes to play "guess what's in my left trouser pocket" with Gen Lee and ACL-65 down by the G.O.?

Well the CAL contract gave ASA 15 additional growth aircraft once the merger with XJET is complete. Then there is the Horizon birds that are either coming here or to Skywest. Then there is the new rest rules which may play the biggest part in all this.

....And then there is your avatar, which makes everyone want to run screaming into the wilderness.

This one has been floating around for a long time now. I think it would have happened by now if it was going to happen. Although I hope it does, I have a feeling it aint.

Alaska's last quarterly report stated that they have found buyer for the remainder of the Horizon 700s and that the agreement would be finalized in the Spring.

My money would be on Skywest, not ASA/XJT.

Will hire 1,000 pilots by the end of 2012.

With a target of 500/yr

Anybody else heard this???

Gonna have to hire at least that many to cover all the new CR7s and 9's that will be doing CAL flying.

Actually the new CPA took effect on November 12. They are free to do that since then not withstanding the CAL scope.

I hope not.

I think it would be safe to assume half of this would be for attrition in the next two years, IF (A BIG IF), things continue to go well at Legacy's and LCC's.

If the economy takes a big dump, or a major attack on homeland this is all out the window, but for planning purposes this is somewhat realistic.

The other BIG IF, is the outcome of a JCBA of CAL/UAL.

This makes sense, except that SkyWest and United have a non-compete clause out of LAX which would effect (I would guess SFO and SEA). Not familiar with the details of this clause, or if it has been in fact re-negotiated (that's why ASA (followed by XJT) had a base in LAX, OO couldn't). It is plausible and I've heard that ASA has purchased all the rest of Horizon's 700's.

If we get CAL 700s or 900s/E170 or 175 outside of the 15 growth planes it will be 1 for 1 with an E145 up to 75.

Maybe the Horizon birds will be 1 for 1 with the ASA UAX 200s that are falling apart

No smoking here. My top secret government clearance prohibits me from taking anything that can impair my judgment (they must not know about flightinfo yet).

My sources tell me that more flying is on the way. Bigger and bigger planes. More destinations. Less and less scope restrictions. I am absolutely salivating to sit in the cockpit of that CRJ 1000. It will be online at ASA by fall 2011. You heard it here first.

Sources? That's something I got.
