Ok - lets get this party started.

Bill is speaking tomorrow at an aviation conference. The rumors on the line have been pretty good as to what he will have to say. Actually, they have been some of the most creative rumors I have ever heard!

So, with less than 24 hours until we know the truth, what say you?

I could put out two completely different rumors that are pretty good right now, but I don't want to stifle ya'lls creative juices.

Letter rip tatter chip!

Couple new cities , a few new airplanes, Horizon becomes Alaska air express, or some variation on that. Oh and I ( Bill ) get a big fat bonus for the record profits!!! And you sucka pilots settled for less than your should have!!! HAHA!

Speaking of the iPad, for us Misfit Toys/furloughees, what's going on with them?

My guess for Bill's speech: To help out in these hard financial times, 60yr+ pilots get to have an FO for Christmas dinner.

you are buying Jetblue

sigh...

thanks Dog...we couldn't go a whole week without someone mentioning a circle jerk with JB.

Things have actually been quiet...almost too quiet...or, I'm just not talking to the right people lately.

Buying/merging with Hawaiian, ordering 30 737-800s, ordering 12 737-900ERs, adding 5 new city pairs, all furloughed pilots to be back by Summer, pilot hiring to commence next Fall, blah blah blah blah... in a year or two, we'll be gobbled up by Delta.

Did I miss anything?

Ok - 8 hrs to go now till the "big" news so I'll spill my line rumor beans.

Rumor #1: Alaska orders 10 of Boeing's best 787's. The SEA hanger is being remodeled to handle them and we have been teaching Menzies how "NOT" to hit a composite aircraft with a forklift...

Rumor #2: Alaska converts 25 of 50 options into firm orders on the 737-800. This is a move to get ahead of LUV and their poking of the nose under the HI cash cow tent in 2011 / 2012.

Rumor #3: Most Captain's, over age 60, with a teaspoon of brains will retire by the end of the year. This is to avoid the 10+ year F/O's from greating them in a dark parking lot at the end of their trips with a crow bar aimed at their right knee cap. (It's hard to look cool in retirement with a limp.)

crickets chirping ((( )))

Baze is right... partly...

Alaska has negotiated something with Boeing... what... we don't know exactly. It may or may/not involve 900ER's. ALPA negotiations with the company already prove that.

Read the 8K's. Obviously AS needs more lift. Whether it is a 737, 787, DHC-8-400, or ERJ (quarter pay) it remains to be seen.

Something is up and we will find out.

Based on what I've heard recently, I wouldn't expect some "big announcement" anytime soon. more of slow "organic" growth that we're sort of used too.

That would certainly be more believable than any of the rumors. Willing to bet that growth will come in the form of larger planes replacing smaller planes. More asm but no more planes. I'll believe we will be adding aircraft and growing the pilot group when it actually happens. When's the last time that happened around here?

The latter happened before the age 65 ruling.

787's? You're dreaming. Not gonna happen. Ever.

AAG mgmt is too hard up to go away from the single fleet that they have/are planning for their two different pilot groups. There is a plan but will it be the same stuff or will they branch out? I bet we will know within a month.
