they fly more pax than freight
We do?
9 MD11 F
7 MD11
1 DC10 flying 1 not flying (Both going away)
2 B747-4 BDSF and 2 on the way
That makes 11 freighters to 8 pax birds and by Feb. it should be 13 freighters to 7 pax birds.
None the less, we are an ACMI company and eventhough we have long-term contracts and fly under supplimental 121 we are considered "charter."

Thanks for the quick response.
Can a pilot who is senior enough to hold a line bid reserve?
Yes
So for DHs you basically get min day pay? Or is there a ratio of the total DH (ie 1 hour pay for every 2 hours DH) where you are able to get more than 4.8 hours on longer DHs?
1 hr for every 2 hrs of deadhead
Forgive me, but when you say two weeks on, two off that is somewhat vague. For instance, my friend said he recently did a 19 day trip which would be more than two weeks on.
Sounds about right. In august I was out for 19 days then had the rest of the month off. This month my line had me out for 12, home for 12 then out for 6. There is no simple answer concerning our bidlines. They vary, but 2 on/ 2 off more of less is a good rule of thumb. The issue right now is we are short staffed, so some lines tend to go over the 2 weeks.
How many days off per month is the min?
12 with at least 6 days in one block.
I know you said schedules vary, so does that mean a senior pilot has the potential to work less and get more days off?
One more question regarding the training contract. If you were to get furloughed and found another job, is it still binding?
Thanks again for all the info. I just thought of one more question if you would be so kind.
How much vacation time a year do you guys get and when does it increase? How does using vacation days work?
Not sure if these were answered. Two on/two off is an easy way to say that you will get 12 days off a month. How you slice it is up to you. You want 7 off in first week and 5 off at end, sure. All 12 up front, sure. Whatever your seniorty can hold. BUT, if you bid the first half off one month and second half off the next, you will be avail to company for 30 days! Careful how you bid. However, for junior pilots, if you are assigned to work "back to back" then you can only be out 19 days.... two weeks on, two off that is somewhat vague. For instance, my friend said he recently did a 19 day trip which would be more than two weeks on.
12 is the min. You can sell back 6 of those. How many days off per month is the min?
Yes, I have an easy sched this month, not that I'm Mr Senior by any stretch. But that won't last. We're going to be very busy this fall and winter until we hire.I know you said schedules vary, so does that mean a senior pilot has the potential to work less and get more days off?
?? Is there an airline out there that doesn't allow senior pilots to bid reserve? Must be...our reserve goes senior. 76 hrs and home (at times). Can a pilot who is senior enough to hold a line bid reserve?
