Jack Roush seems to have some misfortune as a pilot. This is the second major injury he's had while piloting (the first was a near-fatal injury while flying an ultralight). Sounds like his injuries are recoverable.

From ESPN:

"There are injuries. Possible surgery," Roush Fenway Racing president Geoff Smith said in a text message to The Associated Press. "But he walked out of the plane."

1st one was a P-51

1st one was a P-51

Actually, ESPN mis-reported. Although he owns P-51s (and overhauls/rebuilds Merlins), his first crash - the one that nearly killed him - was in an Air Cam ultralight.

From the original Roush Racing press release in 2002:

http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=11738

“That’s the extent of our remarks. Does anyone have a particular question. We’ll open it up for a couple of minutes.” WHAT TYPE OF PLANE WAS IT? “It was not Jack’s P-51, that was speculated. It’s called an twin-engine air cam, and we do not know the details of what precipitated the accident.

Ok. That one is wrong all over the net. There is a shocker, the press getting it wrong....LOL Thanks for clearing that up.

2 crashes in 8 years... not too bad - besides, it was an ugly paint job anyways...

The man is what, 68? Maybe its time to leave flying swept-wing jets single pilot to a younger professional pilot....

or to an older professional pilot. Professional being the key...

Never saw an owner pilot jet gig that was anything but scary.

Weekenders do the darndest things.

From the comments:

"Jack Roush's plane crashed when he unexpectedly had to make a right turn."

I agree. I think he should stick to making left hand turns at 0 AGL. Flying doesn't seem to be his thing.
