ASA merger Rumor?

I keep hearing of ASA merging with another airline.. Anyone hear this one?

Something about changing the ASA name, etc...

seems this was only reasonable response...

I had heard they were looking at a potential merger/purchase of compass as well as a rebranding. I would welcome a new type on property as who knows where the UA/CO merger will take the scope restrictions. Could be a potential market there for 175/195 in the future.

we definitely need to grow to keep our costs low in comparison..

Doubt it. Delta is doing all they can to resist that flow, and I, for one, don't want it anyway. "Flow" goes both ways, up and down...

I don't see the ASA MEC going for that type of a flow-it ain't a good deal.

Why can't the reverse be true. what if Compass bought ASA? Rumors of Delta buying ASA back have circulated for years....

most of those retirements will be offset by plane reductions (-9's and 757's) up to about your 2016 or 2017 numbers....maybe deeper if the DEM's blow up another oil rig in the gulf...either way, it'll suck...

I read on another website that the DC9s will be replaced by MD90s initially, and that 757s and 767s are coming out of the desert. Do you think Delta will shrink in the future and not replace aging jets? Certainly not by replacing them with RJs. Why would Delta just shrink like you forcast and not get comparable jets? ASA is the one shrinking and sending planes to Vietnam. That isn't a good sign. I just want to move on.

they aren't making new MD90's and the ones out there are old already (bandaide)... 75's are old and some of the 76's are ollllld. never said they'd be replaced with RJ's. Just gone (IMHO)....along with 50 seat RJ's, BTW.....

and for the record, ASA is neither shrinking nor sending jets to Vietnam.

Not going to be a good time in this industry for the next several years (if you're ambition is to go to a major).

these are pre merger numbers only.. that doesnt even include the NW guys

as a compass guy I dont want to see this happen. The flow would remain but I would lose all of the benfits.

Right now if delta hires I would move up 25% of my list in about 5 months. It would take about 3.5 year of constant delta hiring for me to flow.

In a merger with ASA it would take years apon years of constant hiring for me to flow on a relative seniority merger.

IF ASA actually bought compass Im pretty sure the compass guys would push pretty hard for all current compass guys to flow before any ASA guys.

Being bought doesnt mean anything in this case. Its not like ASA would be buying us because we are bankrupt. It would be a merger.

Career expectation is in the ALPA merger policy and you never expected to flow.

Beside the issue with flow I would have no problem with merging with ASA
