I dont go to that board very much and would not suggest anyone to go either. Thanks for the critque on my reading skill you are wise. I can only hope to be as smart as you some day. What I failed to mention in my other post was I heard something close to what bloomlrd posted. That came directly from someone in Washington DC for the last round of negotiations.

BYM and boomlrd. Please shut up. You are undermining the MEC.

I am in contact with a P2P volunteer and am being assured that the Union has NO information. My contact spoke to the P2P chair specifically about this rumor and P2P assures him that (again) they have NO data. Period.

The MEC, Negotiators, SPC and P2P are waiting, patiently waiting,

Why would you be posting information intended to undermine the official word coming from the union. I'm not one of the MEC's favorite people, but I will certainly defend them on this one.
We all want to know, but now is not the time to be posting unsubstantiated rumors that run counter to the official position.

Thanks for the information BYM.I always suspected that these leaks were comming directly from SPA ALPA directly but now you have confirmed it. I wish it wasnt true but it isnt the first time.

Hey, I did preface my comment with stating it was a rumor, it came from a trusted source and I believe it has merit and seems to be coming to fruition. This is not undermining the MEC, just trying to give some info to those out there that are interested and let them comment. We are not exactly receiving much info anywhere else.

bumlrd's post didn't mention other boards at all.

If you had any real reading skill, you would notice that bumlrd is STARTING a rumor. bumlrd said, "Rumor has it that the NMB asked the MEC to hold their tongues while they throw management 1 "last and final" chance to bargain in good faith"

Stop trying to direct people to that other board and think before you jump in and agree with a bad rumor. If the NMB gave the union an answer the union would told the group.

Calv,

Did you read today's message from Hopkins? I think my rumor turned out to be true. Apology accepted.

I am too, but if you truly believe I am hurting the group pm me. Explain why, your reasons may be valid and I will stop. I think we are on the same team here. Also half calvin I dont think I leaked anything. I would tell everyone call your reps a p2p guy or PH himself they will tell you what they can and thank you for seeking them out.

I've already written my reason, so there is no reason to not post it again.

Unbelievable, I cannot believe we didn't get any decision by the end of the week. The NMB is absolutely amazing. They got a 98% strike vote and they are dragging their feet. Do they honestly believe we will get anywhere without a release. Very disappointing.

The NMB is a government bureaucracy.

They got a 98% strike vote and they are dragging their feet.
The 98% strike vote, taken well before the NMB believed an impasse existed, only served to show the NMB that a strike was our only strategy.

Do they honestly believe we will get anywhere without a release. Very disappointing.
The NMB's job is strike prevention. Any other interpretation of the RLA is a fantasy. The NMB's business is keeping the trains (airplanes) moving. They could care less about our issues. They don't care if we "get anywhere" as long as we don't shut down a transportation venue.

The worst part of this, is you can see the division in this group. It manifests itself on this and the spirtpilots board. I truly hope we can put aside our political(ALPA) differences and Focus on the company, our true enemy at this time.

Maybe ALPO should write an article about that.

spiritboard is reporting that company is preparing for strike by hiring scabs and speculation of canceling recalls of furloughees. No confirmation from MEC or indentification of source. Clearly this would imply a release but too soon to say.

Wow.

Looks like Spirit management is pulling out the Doug Steenland playbook.

Northwest hired and trained 1200 scab FA's and 1500 scab mechanics during negotiations.

I think I read somewhere that Spirit has 500 pilots? That is unfortunately a number that favors management in this scenario. Although I think it would be harder to find pilots that are willing to throw the rest of their career in the toilet by taking the job.

There is no morals or ethics when it comes to airline management these days. Good luck guys.

They cannot staff and run the airline properly now...the fact that people even entertain the notion that they are going to replace 500 of us in four weeks is idiotic.

That's not how it works.

Northwest had 11,000 FA's at the time...yes that's THOUSAND. Steenland bragged that he could run the airline on a skeleton schedule with the 1200 scabs, management FA's flying trips and a guesstimated percentage of FA's that would cross, all the while continuing to run new FA's thru training.

It was a HUGE gamble that he was willing to take. The FA's caved.

At Spirit I would imagine they would be satisfied with a hundred or so current and qualified 320 guys off the street (maybe in their late 50s with no other shot left in aviation). Management pilots required to fly trips, and a certain number that would get scared (probably older guys) and cross.

I'm just throwing potential scenarios out there. Your management team is either A) REALLY dumb or B) has some serious brass balls. I just read 4 airlines promised not to do the bag charge thing , but that Spirit is not backing down from it. It's almost like they just don't give a shi..

Steenland may have 'bragged' about it, but how much of that is ego? Of course he's not goin to come out and say if the FA's strike we're F*ed. BBB has 'bragged' about many things that have never come true, nor ever will. I cant see NW making it running 10% of their schdule, let alone NK. 15 flights a day? Right....

Yeah, to say Steenland had an ego doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of describing his mentality.

The 1200 "replacement" FA's were trained on their 'IOE' flights by the unionized FA's!

They were training their own replacements if indeed they did strike!

It was unprecedented.

Steenland put a 'Final offer' on the table and the PFA (I believe that was their union at the time) refused it. The majority of FA's voted not to strike and when they went back with their tails between their legs Steenland offered a much worse offer than the 'Final offer' and the FA's took it.

It was unbelievable to watch and a sad day for labor. The pilots (ALPA) had already made their deal with the devil so Steenland wasn't afraid of a sympathy strike from us.

The whole thing was embarrassing...
