Republic places order for 40 Bombardier cseries aircraft

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: RJET) announced today it has signed a purchase agreement for 40 CS300 jets, part of the next-generation CSeries aircraft being developed by Bombardier. Republic also has options for up to an additional 40 aircraft. The aircraft, which will be configured in a single-cabin, with two-by-three seating for 138 passengers, including 25 STRETCH seats, is scheduled for delivery beginning in the second quarter of 2015.

“The CSeries aircraft program is a significant part of Bombardier’s future, and we’re delighted that Republic Airways will be part of it”
The aircraft are powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1000G engines. Republic has signed an exclusive 15-year PureSolution maintenance contract with Pratt & Whitney for the support of the engines.

“Republic is pleased to be the North American launch customer for the CSeries aircraft,” said Bryan Bedford, chairman, president and CEO of Republic Airways. “This aircraft will bring next-generation advantages to all phases of its mission, including passenger comfort, dependability, efficiency and economics.”

“The CS300 will help us dramatically reduce our fuel consumption and impact on the environment. Our customers will also appreciate the generous amount of personal space with wider aisles, increased shoulder room, improved storage bins and extra-large windows,” Bedford added.

“The CSeries aircraft program is a significant part of Bombardier’s future, and we’re delighted that Republic Airways will be part of it,” said Gary R. Scott, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. “This major CSeries order from our first North American customer reflects the confidence Republic Airways has in Bombardier’s ability to deliver a game-changing aircraft and to service the airline’s requirements.”

Republic Airways Holdings, based in Indianapolis, Indiana is an airline holding company that owns Chautauqua Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Lynx Aviation, Midwest Airlines, Republic Airlines and Shuttle America, collectively "the airlines." The airlines offer scheduled passenger service on approximately 1,600 flights daily to 118 cities in 44 states, Canada, Costa Rica, and Mexico under branded operations at Frontier, Midwest, and through fixed-fee airline services agreements with five major U.S. airlines. The fixed-fee flights are operated under an airline partner brand, such as AmericanConnection, Continental Express, Delta Connection, United Express, and US Airways Express. The airlines currently employ approximately 11,000 aviation professionals and operate 283 aircraft.

Great news !! Good for you guys. Now do us all a favor and negotiate industry leading pay rates for it ! Best of Luck!!

The airplane's the same size as a 319. Should be the exact same pay rates, unless Republic undercuts once more.

If Republic last till 2015. Buying fuel with no hedgeing, and running the reservation centers, and they know the cancellation from several carriers is just a matter of time.

Maybe you could hire back all those Midwest pilots your management laid off. They should all be captains !!

Republic Sucks !!

I have been wondering if this career was worth sticking around for. This just puts a giant stamp of confirmation on a never ending downtrend. Take small planes with pilots making little money, then stretch the planes 100% plus while increasing the pay 15%, pure management genius. Short term gains while kicking the can down the road.

Just like you did with the 190's. Try being realistic man; you're working for the #1 company that is ruining the industry. I don't know how you sleep at night.

I just am doing everything I can and trying not to worry about things I ultimately can't control. I have a question, If people are so dissatisfied with this industry, do yourself and everyone around you a favor and get out. Why are you even here anymore if you don't like it? Seriously, this industry has been in and out of bankruptcy it's whole life. If you came into this profession imagining yourself with five flight attendants hanging off your arm and a pay check the size of Texas, you didn't do your homework and shame on you. It is what it is, I will do what I can, and I'm not going to go to my grave worrying about petty things like most people on this site do.

Even if you somehow manage to get a miracle and get the industry avg pay rate for the number of seats it has, you will still be bringing the industry downward, as you have a crappy retirement plan, worse then the majors, and the contracts in general are not as good so yes, you are helping elimanate the majors. One day the airline industry is going to be one big regional. We will all be official bus drivers but with less benefits.

Spoken like a true Republic pilot... justifying you're meager wage for "big airplanes." A pay check the size of texas? Look at AA, Delta, Southwest. Look at Midwest, (the company you killed), and F9 (the company you're killing). They have good pay and you're undercutting is what's ruining the industry. Heck you top out lower than most of the regionals. YOU and you're Republic pals are the one's lowering the bar and ruining the dream. YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF THE INDUSTRY! You knew what the rates were when you got hired at RP and you went anyways.

and PS - I did do my homework. It wasn't until recently that you're crap company came along and began ruining everyone's future - including your own. If you want to earn bus driver wages, drive a bus. If you want to earn pilot wages, be a pilot. You CAN control it - quit or strike. It's bad enough you're taking it up the a-- from bedford; you don't have to smile about it.

Ohh and I do know how you sleep at night - on the air mattress in your crashpad because you can't afford anything else (and never will with your view). It's time you figure out WHAT SIDE your on. You're a pilot. I'm a pilot. We're all in this together; no matter what company you're at.
