DL 757 engine smoke in EGE???

Those engines smoke a lot when started in the cold and high altitude. The RB211's are worse but the PW2037's will still make the ramp IFR.

The RB211 almost killed Lockheed and the L-1011 program.....

When? I was there yesterday....

Pretty nippy up there... cold enough for us to use the cold weather approach plates and adjust the altitudes on departure.



Out of curiosity, do you other carriers do that? ATC seems to go cross eyed when we tell them our min altitude for temperature is higher than the published...
