Many of the South guys offer, and if they give in their brief I let them go tap dance around the exterior, but if they ask, I turn them down. You are correct it is your job. I agree.

My philosophy is much like a CA demanding to pay for my dinner. If he demands or insists, far be it for me to refuse his desire to buy my chow. It is a nice gesture either way and should not be refused.

-You are right, ACL-Not all DAL guys are tools, but it damn sure looks like God put a few real award-winners on your list. I have been around the block a time or two, but I have never heard of anything like this from any pilot in the employ of any other airline. Threatening to RUN OVER the cops with his plane!?!? REALLY?????

-This guy must have ROCKED your interview, champ! (I guess all those you accuse of not being able to pass that big interview must feel a bit better after seeing what this perfect example of charm and class pulled off.) Maybe your test yould now include some questions about leaving treadmarks on squad cars.

P.S.- For those slow learners out there "code enforcement" people enforce local ordinances. I strongly suspect there may have been one or two concerning people driving on a freaking runway. Probably even a code in there somewhere about running over people with your damn plane.

Here is the worst part, I've just explained to you that you are an idiot but it won't matter, you'll still keep it up.

I am former NW and don't understand the walk around thing. As an FO I always do the walk around, its my job. In 13 yrs as an FO I think I had 1 or 2 capts do it. No big deal and I never complained, I do agree with changing up the rotation as far as outbound legs. As a capt. I always offered the FO the choice, 1st or 2nd. It went about 50/50. If they chose the outbound we did 2 legs each so both got an outbound and inbound. If they chose to go 2nd I took all the outbounds. Snooze you lose. I think you will find very few DN capts doing walk arounds. Personally every airline I have flown on it seems the FO does the walk around. I just don't see the big deal.


It has to do with time remaining. If you do a two terminal walk from one plane to another, and the FO has the next leg and needs to do the entire pre-flight, it was NICE if the Captain offered to do the walk around. Am I right in saying that at NWA the Captain ALWAYS programed the FMS first? That is the difference here, the FO or Pilot Flying programs the box first on his/her leg, and then the PNF or PM backs him/her up later, not just a Captain only item. I think maybe the NWA way of doing it was meant to keep the NWA Captains out of the MSP cold weather. Out here in ATL the Capt walkaround (if offered) is meant as a time saver.

As far as the "Bitter RJ Crowd" goes. ASA Captain here, frustrated with my (lack of) career progression, but don't feel the need to blame or take it out on any mainline pilots, whether it be on FI or with jumpseat games, etc.

Please don't think we are all haters out here. I don't assume all of you hate Regional Pilots.
 
You are correct about the capt. and the fms at nwa. And as a capt. I did the walk arounds if the fo was late(short call resv) other than that only if I felt like it. It was/is their job. If an fo was a good guy I always bought all the beer(not just the 3rd and 5th) and a lot of times I bought at least one meal. If they were a probie they did not spend a dime. As an fo now, I don't expect the capt. to do any of the above, but appreciate it if he does. Perhaps you should put on that really cool ASA f/o uniform and get back to the ATL airport so you can give out more $5 BJ's to your male customers in the men's room!

You really seem to have a bit of a one-track mind, sir. How about some new material? It will still be stupid-just different.

-Maybe you can try and run some people over with some large machinery when you get a citation-that would be awesome!
