Yeah, I guess you're right. Along with every other pilot, I always check airnav.com before I fly so I suppose this could never be a problem...my bad.

...sarcasm off

Oh, and to any normal pilots out there, there are little signs by the runway too so look out for them as well.

KDTS

Non towered field...but don't just take off VFR.

It's inside class D airspace so the minute you rotate you just entered class D without talking to the tower first.

Not quite inside the Eglin Class D but you need to stay below 500 ft if taking off to the north. South ops you can go VFR without talking to Eglin but they don't like it.

Here's a tip if you're going west and want to avoid CEW. File the coast (Varre or Tradr) at 10000 or below and you'll get your routing then 10 minutes later when talking to PNS dep ask for higher and you'll get it. Saves time and gas.

You know its good this thread, because there was once a time when it was our first time into TEB. And even though I was flying 4 times a week into TEB from Chicago at one point, I joined a company that always sent me to the west coast, and the first time I went back to TEB that restriction on the ILS for the descent got me.......although I never understood the hoopla about the departure that was always made. Iit was and is pretty straight forward and I never saw or heard of anyone doing it incorrectly.

I think any newbie to TEB will appreciate this thread, although I dont think Fractional pilots is the place for it.

That is not true and is why I posted it. Eglins Class D extends out and around KDTS.

KDTS in INSIDE Eglins Class D and it goes right down to the runway. If you rotate and climb 1 foot without contacting Eglin for clearance then you have just entered class D without radio contact. I think there may be a FAR covering that.

Here's a link to a picture of the sectional with the airspace in question. See how the dashed blue line goes out around KDTS?

Watch out out there...

When on the VOR DME-A, Circle 19 into Teterboro (KTEB) watch out for the minimums. While the circling minimums on the approach plate indicate 1000′, you might be surprised to find out that you will be instructed to remain at 1500′ by the tower. This is usually to provide separation from helicopter traffic, and can get you in trouble if you are not prepared for it.

The above is intended to be advisory in nature and does not supersede any information contained in the FAR’s or AIM. Every situation is different and may not apply to every flight.

You must be a NEWBE or from the West Coast.

There's a lot more pr!cks in the frac section, you should try the corporate forum, they're a lot more reasonable.

Don't let the "skygods" get you down digger...

You never know the newb you may have helped.

Yeah, I'm never too proud to learn something. Obviously there's a lot of folks who haven't gotten all the low down on TEB as there are several violations per week handed out according to a local pilot I spoke with a few months ago. I think one of the ILS's has a crossing limit that you'll bust if you fly the g/s from outside the FAF. Good luck.

There is nothing to LEARN.

You just have to know how to READ.
