Agreed. It wasn't our call...we thought it was yours. No? Non- Flying Cubicle dwellers run amok again...

It is a modification from the 200 to touchdown call at DAL-N.

DAL-S didn't want one... -N insisted. This was the compromise.

From what it sounds like, those meetings of the cubicle dwellers got pretty heated at times, haha. People like their empires....

They say that 500' call is to confirm that you are configured, and with in the stabilized parameters for landing. (Oh yeah and that the PF is still alive and kicking)

The nice thing about the APA is you always knew 4 months in advance where you were going and could always look forward to a chance to change every month. It seems like it would be a lot easier for the company to adjust up and down with constant training as opposed to huge shifts of manpower and guesswork.

One thing that the APAs allowed was bidding from base to base to get better flying each season. If some senior guy living in the DFW area wanted to fly more Europe stuff in the Summer, he might bid DTW 755. If the Asia stuff flew out of MSP more in the Winter, he would bid MSP 755 and do 12 day intra Asia stuff. That pretty much kept the senior guys from upgrading, and never allowed junior people a chance at the better trips. Just when you thought you might be able to hold a sweet trip, bam, 15 senior guys move in for the season. Well, that is now gone. Time to pick a base and probably stay there at least a year. With an AE, you will know where you stand for the whole year. No more squatters.

Bye Bye---General Lee

That's what was officially released. What I posted was actually what happened...

I'd much rather have the APA system. We should be taking the best of each operation.... the APA is obviously superior.

Hopefully after the dust settles ALPA can go for a best practices contract and bring back some of the great parts of our old contract and combine them with the Delta goodies. The move benefit was awesome at NWA but is unbelievably restrictive at DAL.
