Jetblue pay increase?

Just a question from a curious individual, have the proposed rates been implemented yet? And, were they even approved by the company?

Yes rates are done and retro checks come out in October 20th pay. New duty, trip, intl, and overnight rigs are valid Jan 1st

year 5 bus FO approx $12,000 raise

Year 5 190 capt approx $35,000 raise excluding rigs

Not really - Night override is only for the flight time between 1 and 5 am. So if you do an Island turn 1/2 of the first leg and none of the second is covered by the Night Rig.

International override is only for one city pair.

I went back and reread it. You're half right (and I was half wrong). If it's scheduled, you get the rig for the whole leg (not the whole duty period). OTOH, if it's not scheduled you are correct that you only get paid for the protion that touched 0100-0500.

Do most folks go over the 78 hour mark in a given month these days? Are there still lines running in the high 80's/low 90's. Seems like that might be a slight difference, going from 70 to 78 pay wise. With the pay increase make up for it?

Get used to it. There will always be airlines that pay less. When Jetblue started up, they pilots at Jetblue were making less than half what the legacy pilots were making. Now, Jetblue pays more than some of the legacies. What a world we live in.

Their contract was signed in 2003, before there was a "Republic Airlines" or a 51+ seat airplane flown by a pilot on the CHQ Master Seniority List.

And their 175/190 CA rates are just as good (actually better by 2% for most years) than Air Wisconsin's 2003 concessionary rates for the B146, the -300 variety of which had 100 seats. And ARW flew the B146 until Easter 2006, with little whining or gnashing of teeth about "lowering the bar".

Kudos to Jetblue for bringing up their E190 pay, but its not really a fair comparison to evaluate payrates negotiated/approved a couple months ago with RAH's rates that were negotiated six years ago, without a single E-Jet on order, let alone on property.

Nobody is losing pay. The rates are such that you still get paid more even with the premium pay trigger being raised to 78. You don't get as much as the percentage difference in the pay rates though. It has been a bone of contention, you might say.

This is a slow time of year so most lines are built in the 70's and low 80's. When it gets busier, many pilots bid for numbers in the 80's and 90's. It varies by equipment, seat, and base.

Not to mention that when the bid divisors drop in sept and october my bids were right around 80hrs with 19 days off.. I can add 12-14 hr 2 day and be at 95 for the month and still have 17 off

That's what "shiny new jet syndrome" does to pay rates. For this, Republic is the industry poster child. Hopefully, they are permanently fenced out of Frontier's A320s.

I get what ClickClick gets but 14-16 days off. Also, same as him, sacrificing 1 - 2 days (if needed) off during peak months to get low to middle 90's. I'm bidding 60% JFK bus co-pilot.

At Frontier's concessionary (10%) rates, the 6th year Airbus FO pay at Frontier is ~$20/hr lower than Jet Blue's new rate. Even at full book rates, Frontier's 6th year FO pay is ~$10/hr lower. We gradually work our way back to "book" rates starting in January 2011 with full book rates as of January 2012.

As a point of comparison, the 6 year FO pay as of February 2012 will be $85.93/hour. Approximately the same as a 6 year E190 FO at Jet Blue.

JFK to the islands in the middle of night is covered by the night rig.

But the return leg of the red-eye island turn pairing will not be covered by the over ride if the return leg of the pairing is scheduled to operate after 5:00 am base time.

Most of us had that very thing happen at the last "union" airline we worked for. I am not sure your argument is valid. It seems that over the last 10 years that is how airlines with or without unions have played the game. Just for the record I am not anti union. I Just call it how I see it.

Well the rates are a signed contract so they just can't change them. (not saying they can't get some lawyer/judge to do that). The RJ question is a good one, they probably can do that if they like. Back in 2004 they did just that in LGB because we were selling more tickets to OAK than we had seats for so they temporarily contracted with a company to lift some of our Pax. They took lots of heat from these Pax because they had thought they were getting the "jb experience" with TV's and all but ended up just getting an RJ seat. Company vowed never to do that again. But we all know about airline promises.

There is nothing stopping them. I think the last 10 years shows there is nothing stopping anyone, union or not.

The only thing that protects "us" from management not going to a contract carrier to provide "regional/commuter/cheep" lift is upper management's OBSESSION with our service and BRAND. THEY ARE OBSESSED!!!!! Republic/Comair/ASA whoever will never be able to provide our product or service to our "customers" and our crew in the "head shed" know that...........but scope is being addressed as we speak for legal protection........MB is all over.......like a cheap suit.............
