Lowest time King Air PIC?

I got a job as a part 91 baron pilot about 6 months ago through a connection I had. I have flown about 250 hours in that time, and my total time is now around 900. I have a very good relationship with my employer, and they are now talking about upgrading to a King Air 90 and keeping me on as pilot. I know most King Air Captains have MUCH more time than I do, which got me wondering. What is the lowest King Air PIC pilot ever? How often does a situation like this happen? Anyone been in a similar situation or heard of one I would be interested in knowing about it.

Talk to your insurance agent or underwriter, tell them what you are looking to do. Guessing...Might have to get 25 hrs or so dual after school in the airplane before you are soloed.

Lower than 900 hrs.
 
I think the record is 0 hours; the passenger that landed the King Air after the pilot died at the controls.
 
I flew Captain on the King Air, Cheyenne and Citation straight out of the sim. I did my own 3 and 3 and off I went with the owners. Insurance didn't say a thing about it. Of course I had lots of total time, but zero time in type.
 
In my experience its all up to the underwriter. If you visit with them and get to know them it will be a litte easier. It is safe to say you will need a mentor pilot for a while. What I see happening is a real high premium until you get a bunch of turbine time. If your employer really likes you, and does not mind paying alot up front, you might be ok. I second the sim training, they might even require twice a year. Good Luck.
