Announced today...Starting in June, Comair employees will be S3C on all DL mainline flights...S3 on Comair flights and share "equal" priority with DL mainline employees who will be S3 also on Comair flights. Comair will be S3C on all other DCI carriers. Comair will have 6 S2s to be used only on Comair, Mesaba and Compass. Dark days ahead for Comair.

Wow, that's actually worse benefits than ASA has (we're at least S3 on our own metal while Delta is S3C).

Sorry guys, it's going to make commuting/passriding very difficult unless you keep it on Comair flights. I'm seriously debating whether I want to pay the $200+ pass renewal fee for next year...

Yes, very interesting that on ASA and Skywest operated flights, the new policy specifically states that Mainline employees will board after ALL ASA/Skywest employees board. This differs from all other DCI carriers whether wholy-owned or contract carrier.

I wonder if as many people would have VOLUNTARIALY bid for the JFK base if they had known that they would be travelling at a "new and improved" lower boarding priority on Mainline flights?!?

Oh, well, could be worse, still only $50/yr and we can still ride in 1st if there is ever a seat...

I'm actually fairly pleased with the new travel policies. I don't know why Skywest and ASA get better benefits than the other regionals. Hopefully, they can fix that in the future. I don't think Delta employees should be S3C on any flights that say Delta or Delta Connection on the side of the aircraft.

It will likely be changed as well in the future. i believe that ASA and skywest employees are protected by the initial agreement between Delta and skywest. If Delta must wait to change it until renewal, so be it. The change will come though.

ASA and SkyWest employees pay out the wazoo for the yearly PPR fees in comparison to the other carriers. Small price to pay, in my opinion.

Ok so I know all the DCI's are thinking it I'm just going to say it. Why does mainline think they have the right to go at the same priority on our aircraft while we have to go behind them on their's? And don't give me this "they own the seats crap". They outsource the work to the DCI carriers just like any other company in America outsources their work. Only in aviation would someone feel entitled to the outsourced companies "facilities" ahead of the employees that work for the company the work is outsourced to.

I used to work as a supervisor for a company that did a lot of out sourced work. We did work for some very big corporations. We had some great facilities for the business I was in. If the entire world were like mainline then any joe blow that worked for the company we were doing work for could just come right in and use or facilities. Even kick me out of my office if he was hired before me. But I couldn't do the same at their place. I mean his company was paying us to do the work after all right? WRONG! This is just not how it should work. Your airplanes, your pilots, your priority. If you outsourced the work then that's your problem mainline. (in more ways than just Non-reving might I add) Only in aviation. The sense of entitlement is insane.

Seriously? I <3 the mainline Delta sense of entitlement.

When you (I'm looking at you early-90's DALPA) or your management agree to farm out the feed rather than fly those airplanes yourselves...those employees that put their blood, sweat, and tears into protecting a product and brand that isn't even theirs (and, in many cases, doing it better than your own people do) deserve and have earned the priveledge to have that one little perk of boarding priority. Allowing the people who operate and maintain a certain fleet aircraft a little extra priority on the fleet they are entrusted to care for makes sense. It's a shame that Comair and the other DCI carriers have lost this well-earned priority.

Ya know, I have on many occasion gone outta my way (roughly 600 miles outta my way each time) to let a mainline Delta pilot take a jumpseat ahead of me even when my company's J/S priority would allow me to be a complete jerk and see to it that he didn't make it to work in SLC. This after being denied the jumpseat on mainline when trying to get to work and having to call out sick...strictly because of my non-pilot position, reciprocal agreement and CASS be damned. Why do I do it?...because I give half a crap about the brand and the understand the basic fact that the late/no-show pilot by any carrier operating under the Delta brand impacts not only your bottom line, but ours, too.

We respect you. How about a little respect our way? Like it or not...and until the last regional feeder closes up shop...when it comes to the brand, we're all in this together. So, chill with the rhetoric, get over yourself, and realize that the good people who bust their tails to make the brand look good very well deserve that little added priority.

And we are the pilots who own the jumpseats that all of you take to your homes in Ft Walton Beach, Pensacola, the Carolinas, etc. Easy on the self-salad tossing there, champ.

We are not lucky that Delta lets us occupy passenger seats. That benefit is part of our compensation package. Without it, we would have to have higher wages in compensation. That's like me saying you are lucky that Delta tosses a few dollars your way to fly airplanes.

Most of the DL crews I've come across in the jumpseats and also when I'm in theirs have been top notch people. Although I do on occasion (about 1/3 of the time) sit in the jumpseat with a quiet captain who does his stuff, and an FO who jumped from the regional boat in the past 2 years talking up a storm and acting like he's been at mainline forever, saying the sh** you do, having forgot that they just got off a 50 seater 18 months ago. But the "Delta is the best thing since sliced bread....I would lick Richard Anderson's rim" stuff gets old after 3 hours into the flight.

It's a form of immaturity, I guess.

It's all a gamble, though. If your comfort zone is Myrtle Beach, then stay where you are at....It sounds like you are "way mature" though. Your 21 year old FOs straight out of Riddle probably think you are.

As much as I hate to say it, as I work at a regional, there is an old saying "He who has the money makes the rules" and all the regionals can track who has the money in the DAL / DCI relationship. (For those of you who forget easily...just remember how quickly Mesaba filed for bankruptcy when NWA quit paying the bills)

I just want to point out one thing...does anybody else notice that when something good happens at mainline (ie better boarding priority) it is because they "own" the regionals and therefore get to make the decisions, but when something bad happens at mainline (ie parking 737's and regionals get bigger RJ's) it is the regional's fault for "stealing" their flying?

As I said before, mainline has the money and makes the rules, but don't be a little b!+ch and come crying to us when we are "stealing" your flying, because you are damn sure still making the rules then too.

I guess I will just take the S3C priority and see where the NWA / DAL "synergy" takes me.
