Which type-rating would you get

1. CV-880/990 as my Grandad delivered most of them to the airlines.

2. B707/720 favorite bird.

3. B 727

4. B-747 or the A-380

I know this guy is a flamebaiting jackoff, but NO type rating COMMANDS respect. Anybody can get a type in anything if they have enough money. Hell John Travolta has 1 or 2 airliner type ratings. I'd have ATP ratings in every airliner out there if I had enough money to blow on it.

Just for the record about JT...

From the FAA website, he is a Private pilot, SIC only and the 707 and 720 is the same type rating, I believe. Even though I have seen those shots in the left seat of a 747, I can't find where he is typed.

Qantas. He did a good will world wide tour for them a while back and the company said that if he was going to represent them he had to go through their training

I have some friends that got typed on the A-320 and they have had zero luck getting jobs. Most of the overseas operators will not talk to them unless they have 500 hours on type. And these are very experienced L-1011 and 757 captains.

That's why I said they'd have to whore themselves out. In any event, there's not much work in any type of airplane out there these days.

I think instead of getting a type rating, I would use the money to get a commercial- instrument rotorcraft rating and go looking for a med-evac job flying a Bell 407 or something similar from Sikorsky. For fun I would look for a Super Cub on floats and get my commercial seaplane rating. And call me nuts ,but I think if I had any money left over, I'd get my CFI and "double I" re-validated and do some part time flight instructing.

Anyone have info on civilian loans, continuing education, etc. that would allow someone to get another type? I asked a banker about it, and they had no idea what I was talking about and wondered why tou had to learn to type to fly an airplane. (I sh1t you not)

Any government programs, since they are giving so much of our money away, that would allow for a type?

I think you approached the wrong source. I believe it's the varioius state unemployment agencies and not the banks that have retraining programs/funding available for people who are unemployed and as a result, are contemplating switching careers and that's what you might be thinking about. That's might be why the banker seemed confused when you talked with him. Check with your State Unemployment Office. I've heard some states will fund a type rating and others won't, claiming you're not retraining for a job in a different career field, just trying to advance your career along in your current field. Good luck.

747 without even a thought. It would be cool to say you are Capt qualified on the most biggest passenger plane in the sky. Also cool to have it on your ticket as a Capt type rated pilot. It commands respect.

An A-380 type would command ULTIMATE respect.
