One of our EWR ACP and a union officer, have both verified on and off the record now that CAL is close to deciding the outcome of opening a LAX base and a MCO/TPA co-base.

Rumors are rumors and most of what you hear can be taken with a grain of salt but I don't think this ACP would stick his neck out this far on a company voicemail message and announce this without some sort of substance to back it up.

The message details that LAX and MCO would be 737 bases and that no new flying would be generated by this. The purpose is apparently to alleviate the burden that IAH and EWR have with both the FAA and weather problems. There was no info that this would be or could be included with the system bid we are going to have in January.

MCO would possibly be a co-terminal base with MCO. Currently MCO is a very large MX base for us.

We do have a side letter of agreement in our POS C02 that does allow for the investigation of satellite bases and their has been talk before this but bothing of this extent.

The other question this raises is how, if at all, does this coincide with UAL and the closeness thats been examined in the last few weeks between both airlines?

I hope CAL and UAL do NOT merge, however If the top leadership, executives and shareholders want a merger it will happen regardless.

Yes ur right...FYI UAL starting in March will only serve MCO/TPA w/ mainline service. MIA goes to the barbie jets. Sumthins up.

I don't believe the timing of this is coincidental. Our contract is past it's amendable date and this is a big carrot to dangle in front of this WEAK pilot group. "If you guys don't agree to this contract, we're not so sure we can open this new base." How many will fall for it? A LOT!!!!

I'm with Homer on this one; no way this company sets up domiciles at either of those places, when all is said and done.

There just throwing cheese on the ground to get all the mice to run around.

Don't fall for it guys!

I am praying to God that I never see an E175/190 in CAL colors with " Express / Connection " on the side! I hope you guys/gals dont give an inch on scope.

Speak for yourself. I can't wait to get some bigger equipment here. I'd fly it, and thankfully I wouldn't have to bid back to the gear jerkers seat to fly it.

I haven't had to land from the right seat in years. Not gonna start now. I'd have to learn how to use my other hand for the throttles. Not good! ;-) LOL
