Tuesday night they broadcast in operations a plea for crewmembers to volunteer.

At the time I was thinking "Why would someone who wasn't already on duty be hanging around operations?"

I was headed home at the time to start a group of days off. Perhaps if Delta displayed any respect towards their employees' needs at Comair, those employees would be more interested in showing respect for Delta's customers' needs.

Delta's best slogan ever: Good goes around.

I've seen at other airlines where people pick up open time with brothers and sisters on furlough. I can say I haven't seen that here and certainly hope not to.
I recently flew with a captain who was complaining that CS has been "hiding" open time again, and he was trying to pick up as much as possible before the Holidays.

We had this problem at Mesa. They bought crew trackers cell phones for junior assignments.

Step 1. Is this a recorded line?

No.

Step 2. Accept whatever assignment they give you.
Step 3. Go on with your life.
Step 4. Deny being notified.

It will stop very quickly

Its pretty simple. Never answer your phone if its a number you don't know. I never answer calls that are "blocked," "unknown," or any number not saved in my phonebook. If its something important, they will leave a message. If its scheduling, don't call back.

I agree. I never answer the phone if the above happens. CS has gotten desperate lately.
Monday night, I was notified of a trip that starts at 7pm on Tuesday. Tuesday morning rolls around and at 11am, CS calls my cell phone 4 times, the last time they told me they gave me an SD because I refused to call back....when I'm not liable to answer my phone at all because I'd previously been notified.
I just called a CP and he cleared it all off with no problems.

Yeah, I tried that once in my Comair days. They transferred me to the CP who told me to stop drinking and report in exactly twelve hours.

That's beautiful! When they called me at home in past years on my cell phone I was always on vacation in Hawaii or Europe somewhere. I told them I was able to comply with the JM order but they would have to deadhead me to base after I revealed my vacation location which was promptly followed by "never mind."

Hang Tough!

comair has purchased software that lets them display any number they want from any area code. I would not answer the phone under any circumstances

Or you can work for an airline in which you don't have to fear answering a phone call from crew scheduling. If they call me for a JA, if I don't want to do it, all I have to say is "I'm not available."

What paradise of an airline is that?

I always, always screen my calls. My wife taught me that lesson years ago when she started using different numbers to get me to come home from the bar at night.

I also don't pick up phone calls from numbers I am not familiar with, private numbers, or blocked numbers. I heard somewhere that Colgan would JM by way of FedEx Letter, if you signed for it, you are than notified of an assignment. Is that true?

what are junior bases for comair and when does anyone think theyll be hiring again.

thanks,

J. Otto
