Using WiFi on Delta....has anybody done it?

I'd take a nice clean comfy bed, free breakfast, free wifi, friendly staff at a mom&pop hotel than a high end brand name hotel anyday. Too bad the company they uses rarely find these gem. The fact is, those companys get a kickback from these brand name and the majority of the majors use the same company, therefore it's tough to get changes.

I hate hotels that have no free breakfast. I could save a couple hundred bucks per month if we stayed in hotels that at least had some fruit and oatmeal every morning.

As far as the internet goes, I have a hard time believing that the companies best efforts will get us free internet at any of the hotels that don't give it too us already.
 
I hate contract items such as "company will make its best effort, ...." ALPA has been around for how many years now? You think they would learn that items like this might as well not even be there. A contract needs to be black and white.
 
I would think that you should have no problem getting free internet at the hotels. At NetJets, 98% of the hotels have a free internet, and 95% have a free breakfast (at least in the US), so it should be very easy for your company and hotel committee to negotiate these perks also.

We don't make standing reservations due to the nature of our business. Your airline should be able to get an even better deal than us based on your airline having a known occupancy of pilots each night, vs our unknown number of reservations.

In fact I don't remember the last time I went to a hotel without free internet that wasn't in Mexico or a Southern Hemisphere country.

Besides, the hotel industry is hurting along with the rest of the travel industry (and indeed the rest of the economy in whole) so now is a good time to turn the screws a bit if needed to improve the quality of life of your crew members on the road.

Who does your company pay to clean the inside of the aircraft?
 
Your RJs are leaving the DL "family" fast, so I think you should be concentrating on your own problems. You may want to invest in a laptop yourself to start searching for a male stripper job in Mexico, or maybe a male escort job in Macau. They probably would love you over there, and you could tell them all about your RJ while they rub you down.

Yeah, Holiday Inns usually do. Enjoy your microwave Jimmy Dean sandwich and translucent canned fruit.

If you really think you can favorably compare QOL at any airline to Netjets, you obviously haven't worked at both.

I have, and I can. Not slamming NetJets. It's better than many places, but it's not nearly as fantastic as some would have us believe.

Sure will, along with all those airline points and hotel points I collect I can bring my wife on any of my 3, 3 week vacations I have a year.

Oh and when I check in with my diamond card at any hilton around the world (conrad's are the best) I am quickly shown to the concierge floor with a nice suite room.

But hey I'd rather have free internet. Chuckle

The funny thing is that we have professional contract cleaners work on our airplanes much more than I ever saw the airplane cleaned with the turboprop airline I worked for......

I have to pick trash up between legs at both the fractional and the regional turboprop airline I flew for. I've never known anything different. Between the two jobs, the turboprop was trashed much more often than I see our owners/cardholders trash the plane.

Topic digressed a bit. I'll try to bring it back on course.

Good luck getting internet access for your pilots, I would think you have a good case for a class action grievance at any hotel where they offer the internet perk to other pilots but your company opted out.

I always thought it was ironic that the higher end marriots and doubletrees charge for internet, but the sheraton 4 points doesn't. i blame it on the higher end customers- (we all know that we ride on the coattails of the business travelers) why do they let themselves be nickel and dimed for what amounts to a real basic service anymore?
 
That stinks. In the new contract we are guarenteed free wifi at all hotels.....maybe we should have included on the plane (in the back of course!).

I brought that up too....on my 3 hour MKE sit I fired up the PDA and saw the network on the plane..but its $9.95. I mentioned the free wifi for us and the Capt laughed and said....yeah....so we can sit in the cockpit on 3+30 flights and play on our laptops?? not gonna happen :-) He had a point..also....what NEED do we as employees (not mgmt types) have for it? Would be nice...but I doubt we will EVER get it.

What about a limited access user name so that you can access Nexrad and other live weather information?
