Pretty interesting development. Let's hope Siegel doesn't repeat his USAirways performance here...

Former US Airways chief Siegel named XOJet CEO

Mon Oct 6, 2008 12:50am EDT Oct 6 (Reuters) -

XOJet Inc, a private aviation company backed by buyout firm TPG Inc, on Monday named former US Airways Group Inc (LCC.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) head David Siegel as its chief executive.

Siegel, who was US Airways' CEO from 2002 to 2004, will take over from Paul Touw, the company's founder, who will become executive chairman, the company said in a statement. In May, the San Carlos, California-based company said it had arranged $2.5 billion of financing to expand its fleet and better compete with rivals such as NetJets Inc, owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. OUCH!!!

Siegel was at the helm as USAir went into Bankruptcy (first time) and lead the fight for concessions from the pilots and the other groups.

As a matter of fact he earned several bonuses as the result of concessions gained from the pilot group.

On his way out the door ... he had a 30 day window to exit the company and receive a $5M parachute ... he repeatedly stated he was in it for the long haul and wasn't going anywere ... well with less than a week left to pop the chute ... he split.

Good luck to you all.

I think he has been working for Sky Chefs (airline food catering) since leaving USAirways with $5 million. Hopefully his years in catering will benefit XOJet and its passengers (as long as they don't serve Sky Chef food)...

Look at what Mikey Scherringa did for FLOPs, now XO has been honored by hiring another USeless Air Management tool. Best of luck to you guys.

Trust me, there was a collective groan and several WTFs when this was announced. Siegel has been on our Board of Directors for several months now, and so far there have been no changes for the worse.

Our Director of Operations came in with less than favorable reviews from his previous airline, and he has been GREAT for our pilot group. So, while we can't forget what has happened in the past, we have to give our new CEO the benefit of the doubt.

Wish us luck.
