Southwest announces MSP

Thank God!!! Finally, the MSP-CHI market will come down to realistic fares. I only hope it will have an effect on the MSP-ORD market versus just the MDW market. I would suspect that WN waited for the HHH before going to MSP all these years. That combined with the merger seems to be a great time to attack.

As a MSP-CHI commuter for ORD, I must say that I am pleased to have SWA flying the route so that the tickets I buy will go from $200-$300 one way to $59-$99.

The beauty of this is that I will get the benefit of SWA lowering ticket prices without having to fly on them...cause I will avoid them at all cost as I continue to fly on NWA or AirTran to MDW.

Man I hope so, that would be great. We'd never be able to figure out all that crazy stuff like driftdown and enroute alternates. I doubt we'll ever go overwater because it is just too hard. We're just simple boys from Texas.

What is Etops anyway? is that some kind of interweb shirt seller? Ebay, Email, Eharmony, all that interweb stuff is pretty confusing for us simple Texas boys.

Hey guys, whts the big debate about? It's our hub to your hub and visa versa. The competition will be fun ! Although there may be some snags. I don't think that you guys will be able to taxi at 100 knots in MSP

Most of this thread is the expected yawner, but this is funny. What's the deal with those taxiways up there? Most often spilled coffee while taxiing places were MSP and DTW in my previous airline life. Can't just blame temp/wx as many of those "hoser" airports north of the border have pretty smooth roadways. Just wonderin'

With that though, I say its about damn time SWA got into MSP. Living here, and having to travel back and forth to Houston these last 5 years has been hell on my wallet. I always ended up going through DEN on Frontier, and sometimes through DFW on AA. Those were generally the only affordable carriers I could take as the nonstops were priced though the roof on both NWA and CO.

Now with the MDW connection, it opens the route between MSP and HOU though MDW with SWA fares. Man, about 4 years too late

Scope...let's be honest. You make good commuter airline money for working at a legacy.

The W-2 thing is true. A Song 777 Capt makes less than a SWA capt. Just like a 3 year FO make as much as any Song FO. Shoot, a 5 or 6 year SWA FO makes Song narrow body Capt money.
