Move over ASA, Hello GeorgiaSkies...

This is old news, but here is an article on how ASA's Macon route is to be taken over by GeorgiaSkies. Thats right! No more groom! SA La VI Cherry Street!

I guess this means we can jumpseat in the right seat?

New Airline born in Georgia: GeorgiaSkies will operate four flights a day to Macon and two flights a day to Athens, targeting travelers taking flights from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to other cities. GeorgiaSkies is an operation of Pacific Wings LLC, which is part of Pacific Air Holdings and has operations in Hawaii and as New Mexico Airlines in New Mexico. It will fly the routes with nine-passenger Cessna 208-B Grand Caravan propeller planes, which are smaller than aircraft other airlines have recently flown on those routes. "The way these airlines are today --- only the big communities are going to be getting jet service," said Pacific Wings chief executive Greg *********************************************. Both routes are subsidized under the federal government's Essential Air Service program. In the Atlanta-Macon market, GeorgiaSkies operations will take the place of service by Atlantic Southeast Airlines-Delta Connection, which said the route was not economically viable and said fewer than 25 percent of seats on the flights were filled before it decided to end the flights. In the Atlanta-Athens market, GeorgiaSkies will replace flights discontinued earlier this year by Mesa's now defunct Air Midwest.

What do you mean move over ASA? Did you read this part?

With $9 seats, how long are they going to last?

Sure. Are you really going to miss Macon that much? This is great news, no?

not so quick there punkin'.....we (someone other than me that is...:D) still have to shuttle planes for MTC.

Maybe the ready reserves will get to do this rather than taxiing planes to A tech. You know, since they don't like taxiing planes around the ATL...;)

What's funny about this is I don't even work for ASA. I was poking fun at your posting cause you're making a big deal about new service to Macon in a Caravan. I just found it humorous and you take yourself seriously which makes it all the more funnier to me. But maybe there's some east coast joke here about Macon I don't understand.

Does anybody know what gate they are going to use?
