For you boss to get on a cell phone while taxiing and violate an FAR to report you going to slow is amazing arrogance. I hope he gets certificate action.

If the APA doesn't pursue that they are making a big mistake.

I believe that the AIM recomends "a brisk walk" as a safe taxi speed.

Have you ever tried a brisk walk down a 12000 foot runway ? It'ill take you 15 minutes !

Not to mention, that if you ever have a runway incursion, and are taxiing faster than a "brisk walk", the FAA will will most likely use that against you.

Since most pilots are paid by the minute its usually not an issue.

I'm not a fan of the slow taxi either, but this is rediculous.

12,000 foot runway in 15 minutes? I'd be happy if I could run it that fast. That is 2.3 miles, which would be a 9.2 MPH run. The World's fastest runner is around 15 miles per hour (4 minute mile).

A brisk walk, by a long legged indian, with a tail wind, is about 5.5 miles per hour.

I think I'd rather be in the airplane doing 5.5, than an airplane doing 30 to 40, with non-line-pilot Captain jinking along taxiways to pass, while cussing and digging his cell phone out of his luggage.

The unfortunate truth is the Chief pilot who saw nothing wrong will likely be the one who's position is in jeopardy.

An interesting aside fact, is that among the top ten unsat items on line checks, taxiing too fast is in the top three.

APA, where's the grievance? Dallas has ground track radar ... this should be an easy win.

The FAA already pissed off AMR with the 80 groundings (just to show they were "fair" in their scrutiny of all carriers...) so they won't violate a Chief no matter what.

You make it public that you were using your cellphone WHILE moving on an active taxiway and see how long YOU keep your license. More hypocrisy from the Government that gave us the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac bailouts (and bonuses to the management that got them there).TC
