How do you guys feel about the stability of Avantair. I was offered a job and the poeple there are great. Seems like a good company.
Just a few questions:

How much are you guys bringing home in pay?

Do you feel there is stability considering the financial status?

How are the health benifits?

How are the hotels and trips?

I am just really trying to decide about making the move and any help would be great.

Thanks

I don't work there, but I think a lot would have to do with the company and the senority that you have now. It would be a no brainer if you are working at a dirt bag 135 freight operator. But with the status of the industry as a whole it would be hard to leave if you have a little senority built up for lets say a commuter. Just .98 more cents and you will have the whole dollar.

I have a good amount of senority at my company now. But I can be based at home with Avantair, and who knows where my company is going. All the regionals are in the ********************ter

Go have fun in the Avanti. I would at the very least get your feet wet in the fractional industry - you might actually like Avantair (especially if you upgrade quickly).

There is a 1 year training agreement, prorated monthly. If things stay on track, it is possible to upgrade in less than a year. Did they offer you a class date?

no class date, not even an interview (yet... hopefully)

do you know how much the contract is for?

are they hiring into all the bases or just a select few?

Well here is a question for any aAVANTI guys out there, and I am sorry if this may sound like a stupid question but, How are those wings ice protected?
and still cant understand how those props get air at FL400 and how fast are u guys cruising?

Thx

Ps.No smart a$%^%es here please just a simple system question!

Forward wing has electric blankets. Wing leading edges have bleed air. Nacelle inlets have boots.

The airplane does very well at FL410.

Piaggio advertises 295 KTAS, but 370 is more realistic. However, it's got more room than a King Air 200, with the same fuel burn, 100 knots faster, quieter, and higher, with longer legs.

Who wouldn't want to fly this thing:

Looks like a nice ride to me... You certainly would be popular on any ramp. Hopefully the pay will get better with time (the fact that you upgrade quickly does help).

And don't forget the popular Avantair video on Youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PozsRQUjem4

It shows the Avanti II with Pro Line 21. For some reason the video runs slow here and there - don't know if it is my computer or not.

295 KTAS what is that in indicated that high? Like 130?

295 was a typo, he meant 395.

Indicated would be around 240 at FL410, however there is no way in the world to get 395 at 410. More like 330 to 340 TAS. That indicated would be around 200.

I'm really curious about how much money can you make over the payscales published on APC.

OT is paid at 150% day rate (annual/182)
Policy (simplified) is any day over 7 in 14 day period
Last year record holder had something like 63 days OT, on 3rd yr pay comes out around 118K, plus perdiem.
Of course, one could also choose to have a life instead!

Maybe they were on their third divorce and needed some extra cash....

To answer the original question - I think it's a good company to be at. I've been here over three years and I don't intend to go anywhere else. With the price of fuel and our fuel consuption being about a third of what a comparable sized jet burns we are getting alot of interest in our airplanes. In the last 2 quarters we sold about 65 new shares.

The health benefits are good. As a single person I pay about $35 per paycheck for a PPO.

Hotels are usually a Hilton, HI, Marriott or similar. We keep all the hotel, airline, rental car points.

Trips vary from day to day. Could have a long day one day and a short one the next day - just depends on the demand at the time.

I'm not sure which regional you're at but all of the ex-regional guys who I've talked to are glad they made the move here. Upgrades are running just under a year and we're taking about a plane a month for the forseeable future.

Hope that helps and congrats on the offer!

I know it's been asked before so I'll post what I think is the most current info. Some gateways may have changed but this was current within a few months.
