It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what's what . And it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat of Republican. Facts are facts!!!

A 20-page thread about you and this type of crud.

Irony, thy name is Tweaker!

It's sad how much faith you all put into government. I see alot of post saying "well if the Dems were in charge it would be better" or "if the Republicans were in charge we could fix this."

There's a reason the writers of the Constitution tried to limit the power of the federal government. There's a reason why they wanted to make it difficult for the government to get things done.

Do you ever ask yourself why? Do you ever ask yourself why men who studied goverment, and the consequenses of large uncrontolled governments, decided limit the power of the government here in the U.S.? Now might be a good time to go pick up some history books.

Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it...and that's exactly what's happening in the U.S. today.

The more power you give back to the government the more they will screw things up. It doesn't matter which side of the room you sit in. Things wont get better until the majority of people realize this. I seriously doubt that will happen, of course.

...yeah but, the masses are a$$es.... isnt that how it all got started? ;)

the republicans believe in saying they believe in small government.
When have they actually REDUCED their own power while in power?

They have at least tried, having proposed eliminating some federal agencies, or instituting a flat tax. While I wont hold my breath for either to happen unfortunately, at least some have tried. Both parties though have done their share to unfortunately expand government lately, and Obama certainly wants to continue that trend.

Who is the only President who actually shrunk the size of the federal government in the past century? Bill Clinton. So much for that Republican talking point bulls---.

Hmmm, I certainly recall Clinton trying hard to vastly increase the size of federal government through Hillary-care.

c'mon pcl-- they'll find a way to give credit to the congress on that

414- bottom line-- see w/ your own eyes- you said it already- BOTH parties have grown gov't- Republican party has spent us into debt and caught us in a global web w/ the middle east and china.

You all had your chance to elect McCain-- and you chose a silver spooned, cocaine addict, average person oil $$ man instead in a move that i will NEVER understand.
(And what's funny is how you are all confused about the country being so f-ed up-- lashing out in all kinds of ways because there really is noone else to blame but your beloved GOP)

Now it's Obama's turn. Support him and make your opinions on small govt and spending known--

And GET OFF THE PROPOGANDA (ie: cable news and talk radio) It's awful for the country that these spinsters are allowed to call themselves journalism

No, its not broken, that would imply most people do not have health care. Most do have insurance, and many of the uninsured can still get urgent care for little or nothing from the city.

Throwing out the whole system and handing it over to the government, would be more likely to break it and bankrupt us, considering how every other federal medical bill has exponentially increased in cost over its estimates.

Well if you think Republicans grew government, wouldnt that make you happy, especially if you are an Obama supporter? The legistation would have had to have been bipartisan with Democratic support for it to have ever passed (not saying I agreed with it)

And Obama wants to fund Peace Corps/Americorp type groups to the same level of the Department of Defense.

Good thing nobody's suggesting that, then. I think you might want to put down Rush's book for your 1,000th read-through and actually pick up a copy of Obama's health care plan instead. You might learn something.
