Dear Frontier Pilots,

One of my FOs told me a story from one of his F9 buddies that Frontier's financial health is so dire they have begun asking pilots to put hotel costs for company overnights on their own private credit cards in some instances and will be reimbursed later. The story was that hotels were no longer honoring the F9 contracts as they feared they would not get paid if they went Ch 9 (which would occur if they did go Ch 9).

I tolld him I found that hard to believe and would find this to be a very frustrated F9 FO with a vivid imagination in telling a story out of frustration.

I'm simply asking if any or all of this urban legend has any truth to it? I know things are tough at F9 but would find even this a stretch.

I waved the BS flag to the FO but having seen some strange things in this business, thought I'd ask the question. Thanks in advance for an answer.

This has happened at Colgan. Repeatedly. Ask just about anyone who's been there. They frequently are denied things (gas, too) becasue they haven't paid their bills.

Funny thing is, they're still around.

Wht's chapter 9?

Chase,

Since you know it is BS and you dont believe it, why bring out more negative Sh!t about F9?

Capitalism is at work here. Give it a few more weeks of high oil prices, LOW TICKET PRICES and you dont need your FO to tell you anything, YOUR WISH will come true. SWA will be the KING OF DENVER!

Please dont insult us by your INSINCERE CONCERNS and IGNORANT QUESTIONS.

Don't know much about Chase, do you?

The man has built a business and a reputation on doing the right things with clients, mostly pilots, in preparing for interviews at not only Southwest, but FedEx, UPS, and just about every other Major airline out there.

I've met him, in person, and have even heard first-hand stories where people with his prep didn't get hired and his response was first-class, all the way.

I'll be the first to vouch for his sincerity. No one wants to see another guy hit the deck without a net, lease of all Chase. I know you're angry about what's going on, and rightfully so, but don't direct that anger at someone who honestly is just trying to ask a question to make absolutely certain it's just a bad urban legend...

YMMV

One-way rates to Anchorage are $260 on any available day without an expiration of travel or blackouts. A 21-day advance purchase required. Valid on Frontier or USAirways.

Frontier prices San Diego at just $69 each way on trips without an expiration of travel. A 10-day advance purchase required. Valid Tuesday, Wednesday

$298 Los Cabos-San Lucas (Frontier) Go Now!

It cost more to mow your lawn than to fly from ATLANTA to San Diego..

all fares are from ATLANTA and were found on www.clarkhoward.com

Independence had problems of that same sort at the very end. Pilots were not asked to pay for the hotels but there was a mass shifting of vendors. A van driver even held some flight cases hostage until paid.

Good luck out there.

Lear,

Capitalism is GOOD! What will happen to F9 is what the markets dictate. I am not angry about the situation. This economy is just balancing out the industry. Or vice versa.

Just let the markets dictate the outcome. This is not a "I want to waive the BS flag" or "where people with his prep didn't get hired and his response was first-class, all the way" situation.

Just let it be, soon SWA will be the new hometown airline!

Guys like Chase does not fool me with their "sincere approach".

A day or two after the bk there was hotel or two in the system that didn't want to credit us a room....they actually said they wanted a credit card. With one phone call F9 cleared everything up...nobody ever paid for a room with a credit card.
As far a hotel rooms, gas, etc... we have been getting everything without a problem. The FO has no idea what he's talking about.

Chase,
We have flown together before. You probably don't remember me. Anyhow, SWA is airline # 4 for me. I have been through the airline bankruptcy process before. On numerous occasions there were problems with our layover hotels wanting crewmembers credit cards when one carrier I worked at was in Ch.7. I distinctly remember one incident where we were shown the door in winter at a Northeast location.

I am not saying this is currently happening at F9. I wish them the best of luck. All I am pointing out is that it has happened to me personally when I was in that position.

Good luck guys. A joy to jumpseat on.
Den could be a dusty ghostown come fall between Frontier and United.....

We're still here... I think F9 is 50-50 as far as survival goes. RUMOR has it some good news is going to be announced after the BOD meeting this week. Yes, take that with a grain on salt.

Chase,

Really, why the burning, yearning reason to know?

This would seem to be nothing to you but just more spread of fear for the F9 folks.

I hope you see the light and refrain from any further comments like this on this forum or any others.

How about somebody make up some good news about F9. I haven't experienced what that FO talked about. If there was a problem, we would call dispatch and use the company credit card to solve the situation. Believe it or not, we do take care of our own here, except the furloughs coming.

Every possible scenario I can think of is bad, very bad. Especially considering the F9 BOD is basically powerless (more so than usual) during the BK process. The UCC has far more power, and they meet next week. F9 has exclusivity until the 24th, after that they need a renewal or someone can swoop in and pick us apart. F9's BOD has no choice in that matter, it is all up to the UCC and the judge.

We will see....hope you are looking for another job.

Not saying I'm for or against, and not trying to make this personal, but most of the folks that speak in opposition to socialism are the very ones that would benefit from such a system. In other words, most folks who are against have an illusion of where they fall in he socio-economic makeup up this country. They think that they are in the top 1% which means something. But not nearly as much as they think.

I'm not trying to make this a discussion on socialism. I'm speaking about how we generally view foreign things.

Also, back when it was popular to down someone by calling them a commie, most of the folks who used the term never fully realized what communism was. They didn't truly understand it. Not speaking about the pros and cons of it, but the opposition to it.

Meh, I wish that every nit-wit liberal and/or Hollywood type that promised to move to another country if something didn't go their way had done so.

It could have raised the collective IQ of the US a notch or two, but then again, we'd be accused of dumping our trash overseas again.

Just can't win...

I wish NU would leave, I know of a great place where he would fit in called Sadr City.

Look inequality is very important in a capitalistic society like ours. But this inequality has gone so far as to be unethical, immoral and downright bad for business.

You mean like Norway?.....One of the richest countries in the world. Yes they pay high taxes but, income after taxes is still way above ours. Longer life spans. Less money spent on health care which is fully covered by the govt. Oh and they have plenty of gas but they tax it so much people don't wast it by driving SUVs or the likes and therefore are completely independent of needing middle east oil.

Meanwhile - we are all working ourselves to death, so we can fill our 16 mpg SUVs with gas. Meanwhile, the Saudis then take the profits and buy up the assets of our country. We are sending these oil rich countries over 2% of our GDP ever year. Only a matter of time till our debt and other problems catch up to us; great planning Mr. Bush!!! Whats Mcain's great answer: drill more. Nope that won't help either, our biggest oil reserve is located in our driveways!!!! Support a gas tax so we can decrease oils demand.

Not personal but there is some truth to what you say except if you have some time read a book by Ayn Rand called "Anthem". It is very short (60 pages). If u like it get "FOUNTAIN HEAD" and then read "ATLAS SHRUGGED".

Tell me what u think in a PM. I believe in a balance because too much capitalism breeds greed and too much socialism breeds communism.

BTW, those books are pretty good. They are fiction based on some truth.
