News reports now say Crewmember Joseph Kendall was listed in serious condition....

I flew with an engineer named Joe Kendall. Good guy!! Lost track of where he ended up.....I hope it wasn't him...
Joe is an FE - great, great guy. Fun to fly with and an excellent FE.

Best of luck to the crew. In the meantime, the FAA should investigate the entire Kalitta organization. Two lives lost, several serious injuries and the lost of two B747s should warrant some serious inquiry.

Anyone know where the airplane actually crashed? How far from the airport? I realize it is a bit early for details...
The AP news story says it crashed 15 miles NW of Bogota.

i hope they all are ok, with 8 on board it was a double crew, MX ,and load master

Was it just doing a BOG turn from Miami? Or did it come from some where else down there? Just trying to figure out why you would need a double crew for that.

KA has some of the best training I personally have beem involved with. Airplanes are in pretty good shape. I think if you dont work here, you dont have a leg to stand on if your going to comment about any safety issues.

One of the most proffesional bunch of aviators I have had the pleasure to fly with.

Two whales in the dirt, several injuries and now loss of precious life. Doesn't take employment at Kalitta to come to the realization that things aren't completely safe!!!!

Someone In The Majors Section Replied That They Knew Someone Who Had 4 Engine Failures In The Time He Worked There....may Be Complete (b.s) But If Thats True There Is Something Wrong....most People Can Go A Career These Days Without 1 More Less 4 In A Short Period.

I wonder what that guy did to abuse those engines so badly? In August, it will be my 20th anniversary in aviation. In that time, I've only had one engine failure in a worn-out 182. First of all, I think this guy's story is BS, just because he didn't like the job. But if it's not, with such an unprecedented failure rate, I'd be inclined to think it was pilot technique.

Why dontcha STFU "Mr. Expert"

I don't work for Kalitta, and I don't work for the NTSB either. So I'm going to keep my opinions to myself, rather than join in with the usual crowd that likes to dogpile on the pilot's involved... (automatically assuming with their wealth of knowledge and on site intel that it was probably a fellow aviator's fault).

Are you willing to come back, and dig up this thread weeks or months from now to apologize for your remark, if the fault lies elsewhere...?

Yeah, right.

Why don't you spend your time trying to market your cure for the common poop smell instead, since your $hi% does not seem to have one...

Best wishes to the families of those killed and injured, and Safe flying for the rest of us.

You know, I'm usually a fly on the wall during these sessions, but you really stand out. I can probably speak for many in saying that, while we are here to share opinions and ideas, your posts reek of disappointment and bitterness. So, please, unless you actually have something productive or insightful to say, please, give it a rest while the rest of us try to sort this thing out. Thanks.
