This was copied from a main liners post. I can't beleive this 747 captain is really serious. Goes to show whatever you want it to show.

"Well, I flew on a (name stripped but this regional has the lowest class CEO) flight 2 weeks ago to GSO that was flown by a couple of cowboys that will probably be here soon. (when this mainline was hiring) I had to go down there on ALPA business or I would never have boarded as (regional name here) is on my "Do Not Fly" list.
Anyway these clowns pulled G's on us twice trying to climb and turn at the same time. I kid you not! I cannot ever remember having that once on a commercial airliner, let alone twice."

Holy ********************! They banked while climbing!?

OMG!

I'm surprised I didn't see this on CNN/Fox News/MSNBC.

Those death defying low time regional airline pilot dudes are going to HURT someone...or WORSE!

Holy sh(beep)t. A pair of Mario f(beep)ckin Andrettis.

Congratulations, though. You found an idiot on the internet. Next round's on me.

I get what he is saying, I have flown with many FO's who yank and bank like they are in a C172 (the last plane they flew before the RJ). You can climb and turn smoothly without the passengers feeling much in the back, you can fly your final and configure the airplane without HUGE and erratic jockeying of the thrust levers reducing unnecessary changes in engine noise. When you level off during below 10,000 you dont have to YANK bank the the thrust levers! Bring em back slow and reduce changes in engine noise and for gods sake dont just shove them in the climb detent and yank back into a climb.....keep your flying smooth and have your passengers hear and feel as little from your controls as possible.

Ahhhh, the old "punch speed mode with a 30 kt trend vector" maneuver. The best part after almost blacking out from the G forces is the weightlessness you feel when the autopilot shoves the nose over as the trend vector goes 30 kts below 250.

Must have been a prop guy. I notice with the CAs that I fly, the guys with prop experience tend to "yank and bank" a lot more. I say who cares, most pax, except for a few pilots that ride once in a while, don't even care what goes on as long as you make a nice landing. I got to say though, my ABSOLUTE pet-peeve when riding in the back is guys who hand fly but do it really really badly, if you're going to hand fly a 40K jet then please do it so we don't feel every change in anything.

I think a ton of passengers care. I know my mother does, for one. She's a nervous flyer, and the feeling of pulling positive or negative Gs scares the crap out of her. The supposed 747 Captain is being a little melodramatic, but a lot of pilots could try to be a little smoother with how they fly, but that applies to all groups, not just the regional guys.

In all seriousness, people do care. I was on a Delta flight that ended up doing S-turns on final into ATL and it caused one lady to blurt out, "Oh my God, what's happening?"

One thing that we have no control over that seems to scare the crap out of nervous fliers, is when the landing gear comes down on the CRJ 50-seater. It's such a loud noise that you'd swear we were just shot out of the air. On two occaisions as a passenger I've heard people scream when it happens. (Granted, one of them was a newhire FO)

I try to make all altitude changes so gentle you don't even know it's happening. My landings are a different thing. Unfortunately, nobody sleeps through any of these. :0

I guess I just assumed that commercial pilots had 'smooth' figured out.

Maybe I need to jumpseat more or something.

Maybe they were former fighter pilots.

Or how about:

Passengers have been spoiled by ultra-cheap tickets. Likewise, they've been spoiled into expecting ultra-smooth flight. A little negative g hear or there, or a yank n' bank every now and then doesn't hurt anyone, unless they are a pu$$y. Of course I jest - but I am sick of getting the third degree everytime we have to go missed approach, or divert, or god-forbid get an RA. Dear god we just averted disaster and all they can do is bitch about it.

I yank and bank all the time on my MS flight sim, and not once have encountered more than 1 g. And we all know that if you can fly a MS flight sim, then flying the real thing is a breeze!!!

This guy proably says in his ALPA meetings this time we are going to stand up to management. Then vote for a concessionary contract. I am glad he as a personal do not fly list, b/c with his standards he might as well stay at home. I mean he used crum bag CEO to describe a CEO of a regional. So basically he does not fly on regionals.

I rode on Mesaba a few times in the "9" right when they first got them. You could definitely tell an ex Saab driver was at the controls. Im sure they have figured it out by now...

I flew as a paying passenger from CVG to STL on an ERJ. Absolutely beautiful, smooth weather to be ruined by a rough control touch. When we were at the top of descent point, several of us felt the neg G, as we came out of our seats.

I didn't feel the urge to go out and immediately post about it, but now the subject has been brought up...Maybe we need to adopt the Japanese philosophy of new FO's. They don't touch the controls for their first year, unless the CA is dead.

Personally, I think the new FO needs flying experience. Maybe CA's need to be more proactive in doing a little mentoring and teaching. I know, I've heard it before when I've talked to other CA's..."The company ain't paying me to teach!" Bla...bla...bla.

Yeah, and they'll sure be ready to perform after a year of looking out the window.

When we landed, we were told that there were sniper fire in the area. We were wisked from the airplane to out tank and evacuated the area.
