B-J-J, why dont you give us your name and when your interview is taking place and we will make sure you dont have to wear the turban, we will also take care of that camel for you. After reading your posts, I can now see why their is such a bad perspective on what Americans are really like over here. uba757

Do you get preferential treatment if you wear a turban to one of the road shows???

Depends on the airline you are interviewing for. Turbans are worn in India which lies at the other side of the Indian ocean from the UAE. Also, well bread and thoroughbread camels go for up to $2m, so nobody leaves an asset like that tied to the post.

Can we clarify anything else for you?

To get back on topic......

Would anyone who went to the road show mind giving the cliff notes version......I really wanted to go, but didn't have a day off that fit any where. Just looking for basics: housing, expansion, hiring, routes, QOL......... thanks for any info...

Just like FI, you have to sift through the Barbara Streisand to get to the real stuff. Do your homework, that is the best advice you can get.

Flying the A330 - Article

For those people who are interested and might be flying Airbus A330s for Emirates in the future, I saw a great article about flying the A330 (sounded like a Qatar Airways A330 pilot) in an Airways Magazine at Barnes & Noble - it's the July issue. I read the article in the store and the pilot talked about his own transition into the A330 from the A300-600. It was a basic article but pretty well written. Sounds like a nice bird to me...

Bwahahaha. Thats a lot of money to pay to be a camel jockey. Maybe I will lose the turban and wear a towel.

did you guys take a cover letter with you as well?

I went to one last weekend. No resume or cover letter, did the application the day before, and got an interview on the spot. If your app is in, print it out and give it to them at the end of the roadshow. Of course this is if you have Boeing/Airbus time. If you're an RJ driver they won't take your app there and say expect an offer for interview in about 2 months. Good Luck!

How much out of your pocket must be contributed towards the retirement plan? I heard it is manditory to contribute 5% of your own money to the retirement fund. Also, what is a realistic expense per month in Dubai, i.e. phone, cable, etc. Thanks in advance.
