Wow! I had no idea you guys flew these. I picked up a book published in 1974 and it showed one in Delta colors. That must have been pretty cool, huh?

Who flew one?

I saw a "coffee table book" on Delta. The L-100s (C-130s) were used as freighters from 1967 - 1973. We also had Dc-8 freighters for a while after the L-100s went away

Hey, when I go to McDonalds and see your fat ass working the fryer, I don't complain to the manager that you're not making enough $$, so let pilots working for Delta worry about their payrates.......

We have 8 brand new L382 stretch J models at Keesler. :-)

He was talking about real C-130s/L382s, not J models...
 
DAL outsourced the training to the folks at Little Rock :D
 
L-382 is the FAA designation for the civilian C-130. "L-100" was what Lockheed marketing called the airplane. Delta got the L-100's in Sept 1966. They were basic C-130E. Later, they were stretched to become L-100-20 and the external wing tanks were removed. There was also a super stretched model, L-100-30, but DAL didn't buy any of those. Delta did all of the training in house.

J/k...I flew ACs and MCs with MANY MANY crewmembers and think the J model is an outstanding aircraft, FWIW.
