Colgan training contract

Some ?'s about the training contract at Colgan:

- How ironclad is it?

- At what point in your new hire training do you sign it? (day one of GS, after your oral, after you pass your checkride?)

Any info would be appreciated. I once flew with an FO who told me he bailed on it and they were trying to collect, but their requests kept getting lighter after he kept ignoring them. They eventually told him they'll even accept just half of it.

I guess by your screen name your already looking for a way around it. You sign it on day one. They will enforce it if you just leave. If you fail, of course you are free.

Actually, I'm asking on behalf of a friend. I didn't say that in my original post because, well, you know...

He's just trying to get info on different regionals and thought it was strange that they make you sign a training contract. AFAIK, it's the only regional that does.

That is simply not true. It depends on how they are written. World Airways goes after every pilot who leaves and they get their money.

I think there was an F/O that went from Colgan to Pinnacle, and they said they wouldn't come after him...so that is always an option. hahahahahaha.
