How about you expand this into career expectations: If you were to retire at the 4th percentile, you structure the new list to retire at the 4th percentile?

Again, when we retired all of our pilots, we also retired planes. We dumped all of our 732s, 733s, 762s, and MD11s. You guys did not retire anyone, yet you now have a lot of old planes with very few replacements on order at all (for DC9s and 742s). Those planes could be gone tomorrow if fuel gets any higher, and furloughs would envelop you. You can't expect us, who have already parked our oldest planes and gone through the process (rebidding, re-training, etc), to wait for you guys to bring more old planes and then for us to do it all again. No way. The way to cover for that is with fences, on your 744s and DC9s. People on the DC9 stay on it until there is a mainline replacement for it. You say there will be one someday, right? Well ok, then prove it. Our guys shouldn't be subjected to a furlough thanks to your old planes.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Just so all of the NWA pilots know. This guy is NOT the spokesperson for the Delta pilot group!
Sometimes I wish you would just shut up for 10 minutes, and stop embarressing us. No wonder so many people think we are pricks!

Perhaps you should actually read what GL is saying. He is thinking strategically - unlike you. He's right - why should the standard be career expectations? That only works when you are comparing apples to apples and that is not the case because of NWA's fleet and retirement situation.

What have you contributed to this conversation? Nothing. Is this forum not an informational forum? Everyone knows that people have opinions and they use them here. This is not an officially sanctioned negotiating forum, so quit your b!tching. Perhaps you could add some real value and enlighten us with some new way of thinking... I doubt you could.

How about expanding this to reality? Pilots join both DAL and NWA at during phases of their careers - some later than others. Why not expand this to age alone? All 59 year olds (regardless of when they joined their airlines) must be in the top 2%... Why not expand this to race and gender? Do you get my point? A straight percentage merger is the most fair IMHO - a person at the bottom 5% of NWA should not expect to be at the upper 5% of the combined entity just because NWA has more geriatric pilots. That makes no sense.

Perfect.....Could not have said it better myself.

Anyway, good luck to both groups who BOTH bring a lot to the new company.

I agree with you, the General is a total tool, I blocked him and it makes reading these threads much better. As an NWA pilot I don't let the generals words(not reading any more) speak for you guys as a group. If you go ever to APC you will find a much more adult form of discussion on the topic.
Getting back to the thread, this could be a win win for all. On a side note, I hope the Delta pilots realize that the Asian routes we bring count for a lot of the NWA appeal. I'm not going to say Europe is is tapped out but Asia is a stack of kegs waiting for the taking. It is the Future.

Hey, I never said I spoke for our group. I speak better than you do, though.

You've been at NWA for a few days and now you know the "Future."

Now that's some good training!

Clipper,

Do you think GL is a tool because you actually disagree with his points or because you don't like how he states it? If you disagree with his points, what can you offer to refute those points instead of name calling? I would love to hear you use facts to refute GL's points or assertions - I'm waiting.

With regard to Asia, everyone knows Asia is valuable. It was more valuable when airlines didn't have airplanes (other than 747s) that could reach destinations nonstop. Delta's 777s can easily reach all major points in Asia nonstop from its LAX hub. Delta will be loading up on 777s going forward and those will arrive before NWA's 787s. All of these Asian markets are gradually opening up with more slots - especially in anticipation of growing trade. What my point? Having a NRT hub is not as valuable as it once was. Do you agree or disagree? Please try to use some rational thought and facts in your response instead of petty insults.

The combo of DAL/NWA makes strategic sense from a network perspective. Let's try to look at the bigger picture instead of resorting to name calling - that isn't helpful.

Don't worry. Anyone with the time to post 10000 times on a forum has got to be a bit off. The hang up is letting the NWA pilots enjoy the retirements coming up that the DAL pilots have enjoyed. Contract stuff is OK, not great.

NWA is not in jeopardy of BK, has more cash than DAL, less debt, etc. We don't need the MERGER, neither does DAL. If it doesn't work out, so be it. Wait and see.

No, what you do is just SPEAK, and too much!
Take some time, step away from the computer, and enjoy a nice big cup of STFU!
Its no wonder so many people block you! You are an embarressment to the Delta pilot group.
All you do is pull articles off the internet, and put the Delta spin on it! You yank things off the DALPA forum like the "NWA selling its cargo ops," and put your spin on it. Its no wonder there are so many regional guys/SWA guys/ Airline guys that think we are pricks, its because of loudmouth punks like you!
Its just a job, nothing more! I'm sure if you had a family, or half a brain, you'd realize there are more valuable things in life besides making your shwanker look bigger than everyone elses!

I just want to apologize to everyone at NWA that this idiot has offended with his holier than thou complex! This pinhead is not the spokesman for Delta!

HEY, DUDE, I can and WILL state anything I want on this board. You are free to IGNORE me, and anyone can do the same. I DON'T CARE. I do NOT speak for the Delta pilots, and just because you can't follow what I am saying, too bad. Thanks for apologizing to everyone, for NOTHING. If they don't want to read what I am posting, then that is up to them. Thanks to your response, I will post more.

You don't know me. I actually enjoy this board, and I respond to EVERYONE that posts to me. Sometimes that is 20 or 30 times each time I sit down. I like the debate, and the banter. Just because you can't see the fact that our retired guys left at the same time many airplanes were parked, that's ok, you just don't understand. Not many guys "enjoyed" getting kicked off certain planes and then going to others after a 47% paycut. Wow, that is enjoyable.

Do you not have a family? a life outside of FI? your life as you describe it sounds pathetic.

Why would anyone listen to anything posted by someone whose priorities are as screwed up as yours?

The answer to your first question is NO. The answer to your second question is YES. He collects Star Wars figures and uses his Delta pass privilages to go to as many Star Wars conventions dressed as Darth Vader as he can. The rest of his time is spent playing D&D or posting on FI.
