What are some examples of where LIDO's will get you violated? Anyone know how often FEDEX pilots are getting violated (by the FAA) while using LIDO?
It's the fact that there are too many errors and insufficient and/or incomplete info. Incorrect frequencies, inadequate diagraming/explanation of certain crossing restrictions, etc.
I can't speak for Fedex LIDOs, but Pinnacle LIDOs have been a real mess!
Jepps are MUCH easier to use, they are very user friendly, obvious, and you can pick out exactly what you want in a millisecond.
Good luck trying that with LIDOs.
Classic examples of the stupidity on LIDO approach plates are the visibility/cieling minimums that actually can't fit on the bottom of the plate, so they have them continue on *yet another* approach plate all the way at the end of all the approach charts. It's called something 'overflow' and it's at the end of the IACs. Yeah, overflow.
Another classic example is that LIDOs only list visibility requirements assuming all lights are working. Jeppesen gives you that, and the higher visibility requirements if the ALS is out. I'm still trying to figure out where you can find that on the LIDO charts...
I could go on and on. Best thing for us to do is to accept the LIDOs, learn and apply them to the best of our knowledge, and report errors to the company so they can fix them and give us thick revisions.
*sigh*
