LMAO!!! LIDOs!!!!

Now all FOs have been forced to give up their Jepps for LIDOs.

Let the violations begin........

What are some examples of where LIDO's will get you violated? Anyone know how often FEDEX pilots are getting violated (by the FAA) while using LIDO?

It's the fact that there are too many errors and insufficient and/or incomplete info. Incorrect frequencies, inadequate diagraming/explanation of certain crossing restrictions, etc.

I can't speak for Fedex LIDOs, but Pinnacle LIDOs have been a real mess!

Jepps are MUCH easier to use, they are very user friendly, obvious, and you can pick out exactly what you want in a millisecond.

Good luck trying that with LIDOs.

Classic examples of the stupidity on LIDO approach plates are the visibility/cieling minimums that actually can't fit on the bottom of the plate, so they have them continue on *yet another* approach plate all the way at the end of all the approach charts. It's called something 'overflow' and it's at the end of the IACs. Yeah, overflow.
Another classic example is that LIDOs only list visibility requirements assuming all lights are working. Jeppesen gives you that, and the higher visibility requirements if the ALS is out. I'm still trying to figure out where you can find that on the LIDO charts...

I could go on and on. Best thing for us to do is to accept the LIDOs, learn and apply them to the best of our knowledge, and report errors to the company so they can fix them and give us thick revisions.

*sigh*

Again, illegal. If the FAs were smart enough to fight it, they'd win. The company can certainly terminate an FA for theft, but they'd have to prove that the FA actually stole something. Less liquor on the airplane than the money accounts for is not proof of theft by the FA, because she's not the one that stocked the plane in the first place. That could easily be the caterers that stole the liquor. It'd never hold up if an FA tried to fight it.

Yeah, that's just great. Except that you're not thinking from the FA mindset. It's not about being "smart" (are you saying FAs are dumb?), it's about being motivated and thinking it's not worth fighting because you'll lose anyhow.

Most (not all) FAs view this as a job, not a career worth fighting for. They're just doing it for fun, travel benefits, or between jobs or school.

Most of them are unwilling to rise to the challenge of fighting a procedure through the grievance system, which consumes a lot of personal time, and sometimes even money. Add to that, the AFA at ASA is extremely weak, and provides few resources. At a pilot grievance, ALPA handles everything, and often the pilot need not even show up. For the AFA, a FA must drive herself all the way downtown in ATL to the Ford & Harrison offices (usually on her off day) and plea her case in person. And that's whether she lives in ATL or not. So most FA's would rather just pay the money, take the punishment, or quit if they get are threatened with termination, than fight it.

And the regional airlines like ASA know this and use it to their advantage in formulating these policies.

You're absolutely right, JP. It was the same way with the FAs at Pinnacle. Unfortunately, management is able to use this to their advantage. I just wish one FA would step up and go to the trouble to fix it.

FedEx's LIDOs are in an EFB.

PCL will tell you to go online and print the missing pages at your home before your trip.

The entire reason they give you the LEPs is so they can be held blameless by the Feds when you are missing pages. "Hey, we told them!"

Think it's called the LIDO SHUFFLE, and Boz Scaggs wrote about this problem years ago.

What are LIDOs?

LIDO???

He's one for the money, one for the show.
Lido's a-waitin' for another go.
Lido, whoa-oh-oh-oh....

Check the expiration date on your next bag of peanuts when your flying Delta Mainline or any DCI carrier. They've all been expired for 2 months now. (12/31/07)

I'm just waiting for some health dept./food inspection employee to be riding along in our one of jets and flip out because the airline is knowingly serving expired snacks to customers.

No, the FA's got as memo to tell the passengers that the COUPON is expired, not the actual snack. Riiiiight.
