Anybody know if United will lower the m.e. pic requirement? I've heard they aren't getting enough applicants. Just heard rumor while jumpseating.

Lower to what minimums? What have you heard?

I know they have MANY apps on file so it flies in the face of the rumor you heard. Maybe they were just trying to encourage you - who knows?

I would check United's website often and if there is a change there then there ya go!! Good Luck.......

I know that everyone in my UAL class of 20 new hires had over 2000 hrs PIC turbine/jet. Good luck to you though, you never know.

they hired you, so they must be scraping the bottom of the barrel.

seriously, have you any idea how arrogant you sound?

I second that jke406...Shrek, it was a simple question. Don't try to sound all high and mighty since you were lucky enough to slip through the cracks and finally get hired.
Remember your days at TSA, the days where you were just looking for a little information in hopes to move on from that hell hole. Sounds like a similar situation with a man in hope. Leave the arrogance at home.

The HR lady on the phone interview said they had 2400+ qualified applicants on file. I have an interview and I have over 2000 turb PIC also. Good luck.

This is the second post on this topic in just a few days. Maybe there is some truth to this rumor. No one can confirm it so its not official yet, but I don't think anyone would be surprised. We'll see soon enough I suppose.

From a "practical" standpoint, I would find it VERY unlikely there would be a shortage of applicants with 1000 hrs PIC ME. Unless I'm missing something, that box does not take all that long to fill, unless of course you've been a full-time CFI in bug-smashers and went directly to the regionals and haven't upgraded yet.....

Maybe they are going back to the NS days of hiring. You know, when they only hired 1 out of 10-15 fifteen candidates that interviewed.

So in other words, if they need 200 pilots on property, they need at least 2000-3000 qualified applicants.

Relax everybody, it's a freaking joke.

Diversity quota's aside,

OK...we keep hearing this about UAL's hiring. But my question is...IF this is true ( and note I said "if"), then what needs to be asked is....why only United?

Why not Delta? ...or, why not AA...or, why not Alaska...or, why not Jet Blue...or, why not Air Tran...or why not SWA...or, why not CAL...or, why not Aloha...you get my drift?

For years I've heard the "quota" stuff...but only UAL...why? Especially, in a "monkey see-monkey do" indsustry.

Really never meant to come across that way.........if I did my appologies. I have NEVER read a sarcastic post from you jke406.......

How EXACTLY did I slip through the cracks?! Do you know my history BEFORE TSA Mr. Matthews? If not then keep your piehole SHUT.

It took me 18 years to get to United and it was EARNT not GIVEN.

If you even know me then you know that I wouldn't come across as high and mighty. Ask anybody that I still know there at TSA and you will get a different opinion I am sure. BY ALL MEANS SEND ME A PM and we can talk about it on the phone.

Damn mate,

you left Spirit to go to United?!? ....REALLY?!

Good luck, and say hello to "Skippy!"

PtP

I will.........

And yes I did - being that I live in Denver (it was either 20 minutes to work ) or 4hour commute.

I believe when it is all said and done - United will be close to what it was in 2000.

is 75/76 the same bid at UAL like at CAL, do you fly both? Or based separately?

thanks

any new hires,
how much have you spent on lodging and other expenses during new hire training total? roughly?

1,000 hours of pilot time just shows you're interested in aviation. So now days, those that want to fly for the majors must show they are interested. That is what 1,000 hours of PIC turbine time shows: You're now showing interest in becoming an airline pilot.

United Training UAL UA Hotel Motel Stapleton Denver Center

Super 8 address 7201 East 36th Avenue, Denver, CO 80207 (303)393-7666 Just talked to Paul there. He said 30 a day no tax for a month. Per day 40 no tax. Special rate for UAL in training. Plan on two weeks indoc and 4 weeks aircraft specific at least. To go to training walk out front door of hotel to street on your right then go left to main road (Quebec) walk one block passed sonic and kinkos make left onto E35 Ave and 400 feet to make right into front entrance of trainng parking lot then about 400 feet more to front entrance of building on listed on training packet. I was entering at the first building at left of training parking lot entrance and walking through the maze of hallways to save my ears from freezing that last 400 feet. Take one of those folding wheeled roller carts to carry your flight bag/books. And the food in the training center cafeteria is pretty good and decently priced including omelletes for breakfast. It also includes a do it yourself sandwich bar to make yourself a quick sandwich on a 10 minute claas break if you walk fast With this hotel you don't have to wait for a shuttle to take you over there when you want to go to the learning center. Across street from hotel everything you could ever want in retail and food except Ruth Chris wasted money house. Even a home depot if u wanna fix up your room or WalMart for that folding roller contraption or some ear mffs if its still freezing. For people searching hotels like I was the following words are so they can find this post. United Training UAL UA Hotel Motel Stapleton Denver Center And for negative industry people.... what have you got something better and are going to open the door for us to Utopia? Yeah thought so.

hmmm:

Thanks very much for that info!

Yeah, it's tough to start over, but what else are you gonna do, wait for the major your regional flies for to cut your fleet in half during section 6?...nope..I'll take my chances flying for a better company, until it merges or goes ch. 11 again...

Hope my class date holds up....

If anyone is sitting in the Regionals and thinking about making the jump...I would say GO FOR IT!

You have ZERO long term prospects as a RJ Driver.

Look at the History ACA, Comair, Air Willy(the one from the 80-90's) Buisness Express....etc

Think about it.
