Christmas Gift For You
A few years ago, my Christmas message dealt mostly with gifts. In that message and other Bible group teachings, I have talked about the way people look at gifts. Naturally that perspective changes over the years as one matures. Others perhaps never change at all from being the little kid who rips the wrapping off and tears open the box in anxious anticipation of what is inside. Checking it quickly, many times that same kid or person can be seen rushing to the next one or playing with the box and not the gift.
In a way, I am still that kid. My wife Madora however is much different. She almost delays the opening so she can keep the anticipation going. When she opens a gift, it is with the precision of a surgeon doing a delicate operation. The paper almost never tears, the ribbon preserved, the box opening slowly, and then removing the gift. She looks at it, never disappointed, like it is the most precious gift that she ever received. Then she puts it back in the box with the same dedication she removed it with. Later she will bring it out again reliving the joy. Of course there are many ways along the path between the way Madora does it and how I do it. Some open the gift and start playing with it immediately wanting to see it from all angles and whatever it can do. Others may put it away for later and some may never use it at all.
Gifts from God are like that too. People tend to treat them the same way. Some rush to open them but quickly discard them for something else. Some may open them and keep them close so they can look at them again in the same wonder. Others open them and put them on the shelf. Lastly are the ones who do not open them at all, their attention drawn to the pretty wrapping on the outside of the boxes.
Christmas is the celebration of God’s greatest gift of all. A perfect and magnificent gift, made for especially for us. It was not wrapped in a pretty box with golden wrapping and a colorful bow. It came humbly with a babies cry. In giving us this gift, it was to take away the sinful aspects of our lives. What a great and powerful gift. And, like other gifts, some will glance at it briefly and go on to something else, some will cherish the gift appreciating every aspect, some will put it on the shelf for another day, some too will not open it at all.
Madora and I recognize the gift of that one child God sent to us for us. He sent others as well. You are one for each friend is like a gift from God to be opened slowly and appreciated. May you and your family celebrate the greatest gift ever given, those around you and the one above you.
Merry Christmas

And my Christmas present to you is to refrain from posting a very snarky comment.

Happy Christmas, Merry New Year

Yeah, I'm out of presents so stand by for snarky comments...

Good God! No one comes here to get preached at.

Take your crazy belief system on down the road and find a group of real live people who care and share your voodoo with them.

Oh yeah, and Merry Christmas!

Thanks for reminding us of what the "reason for the season" is all about!
Peace and joy to all
Fly safe and,
Merry Christmas!

I'm with Publisher and 410:

For a moment, let's put this nonsense behind us and remember what it really is all about.

To family and true friends!

It really is what it is all about, for me anyway.

Yes, I did 8 years of nuns, and 4 years of Jesuits, and understand Christ, but this is what it means to me.

Merry Christmas, everybody.

Merry Christmas to all. For those flying tonight, don't forget that Santa's sleigh is not equipped with TCAS!

She (Mary) will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.

Sign of a hard heart.

Just finished reading "The Night Before Christmas" to my kids, cellphone to my ear, laptop in front of me, so..

Merry Christmas to all... and to all.. a Good Night!!

gotta luv an Embassy Suites on Xmas eve..

and to many here (ie:them-there evangelical types): step away from the Bar before posting, or maybe I got that backwards, maybe stepping up to it first would help

Merry Christmas Glass

Mods, could you move this to the NON aviation section, please. Proselytizeing is not aviation related. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

There is Proselytizeing on these boards every day of the year, just not for a religion, or for a good spirit, but for personal opinions.
As they say, character is not something you develop, it is what is reflected by your words and deeds.
Have a great day! whatever you believe.

Projecting much, "glasspilot"? Publishers was passing along good wishes and happy thoughts to everyone here. YOU, on the other hand post nothing BUT the "snarky comments" you seem to despise. http://forums.flightinfo.com/search.php?searchid=1613279
Perhaps you could use a good exorcism to rid you of the evil that consumes your mind?
Happy holidays everyone...if that is "voodoo" we could use a lot more of that in our lives than that which "glasspilot" and his ilk push...

Ah, but I didn't say anything against your proselytizeing. I merely said it should be moved to it's appropriate place on the board. Am I to understand that you are bringing my character into question? Do you know me at all? Is that what chistians do? Call strangers character into question? I have learned something about you today. I shall keep it in mind.

That liberal "tolerance"...gotta love it...applied in all the wrong places...

I'm all for good wishes and well wishing. What I strongly object to is bible thumpers, or anyone spewing any religion for that matter, on these boards.

You don't want a scientist coming on discussing the first 3 nano seconds of the big bang here do you? You don't want a shaman coming on with directions for making a voodoo doll do you? Get the idea?

Again, I'm all for well wishing. I just take offense to some moe telling me about "Gods greatest gift is the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ blah blah blah".

I truly wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and happy holidays and all of that. I really wish you all the best, including the thread starter. Just understand that I'm sick of people taking the opportunity to "Spread the Word" in inappropriate places like this. I don't need to be saved, I don't want to hear your voodoo (slang for any religion you want me to hear about), and I think it's time for people to stop rolling over for these god pushers.

Anyway, I've wondered off. Happy Holidays.

Glass, I would so love to know how to make a voodoo doll! That would kick a$$!

You're right, that would be cool.
:)

I don't get it. Porn...OK. Avatars that are inappropriate (that is, worse than mine even)...OK. But come in on Christmas Day and post something good and you guys jump all over him. You know I get sick of hearing "Jesus! Christ!" as the preferred cuss word of 90% of the guys I fly with. I get sick of hearing about how much porn you watch, but I don't jump all over you for it. I just bear it. So when you guys jump on a guy for posting something positive and uplifting...please just STFU.

And while I'm at it...
To quote you libs when people say there is too much sex and violence on TV...if you don't like it, just turn it off. IOW, if you don't want to hear about Christmas and Jesus, then don't read the posts about them.
Spare me the banter about this being an aviation board, etc. This ain't the first time that something other than flying was posted.

Ahhh... Just leave it to religion to start a good fight!
Never fails.

Or union talk, or anti-union talk, or FLOPS vs CS, or NJA vs airlines, or IBB vs no IBB, or hats vs no hats....
